There are three reasons anyone does anything. For love, money, or power. Odd Squad agents don't get paid, love gives you the cooties, and so the answer must be... power. (evil cackle)
~ Ohlm revealing his true nature.

Agent Ohlm is a major antagonist of the live-action children's television series Odd Squad.

He is one of many agents who works at the titular organization which tries to prevent the world from becoming odd. Unlike most of the other agents in the series, Ohlm is seemingly very incompetent, and he often messes up his cases. However, in the 2nd season of the series, Ohlm was revealed to have more ill-natured tendencies, wanting power and seeking vengeance to destroy Odd Squad. Eventually, he was defeated by Olympia, Otis, Ms. O, and Oona. And then, he was kicked off the Squad, and was grounded by his parents. He is former partner of Otto and Orchid, and the archenemy of Olympia, Otis, Ms. O, and Oona.

He was portrayed by Jaiden Cannatelli.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Just like the other kids at the Odd Squad Academy, Ohlm had to attend the Academy and pass the quizzes that were assigned to him. He managed to get good grades on his assignments and eventually got honored and hired to be an official Odd Squad agent. But Ohlm was unsatisfied with this and wanted to be the Big O, and the academy girl said: "Well, after lots of hard work and years of training". Ohlm asked "So, you won't give me the job right away?", and the academy girl answered, "No, that's ridiculous." Ohlm was impatient and declared he would destroy Odd Squad. But the academy girl didn't hear him because "she had water in her ear".

When Ohlm became an official Odd Squad agent, he hid his true intentions by pretending to be an idiot. Whenever he attended Odd Squad, he would act like a fool by failing his cases on purpose, eating yogurt with the wrong end of the spoon and acting like a happy-go-lucky child. But when no one was looking, Ohlm secretly gave the villains the information they needed and introduced them to the gadgets and combining them. Unfortunately, something would always go wrong, and Ohlm would be left in a frustrated state, but things changed for him later.

Manipulation[]

After Olympia accidentally got Otis and Ms. O fired from Odd Squad, the Big O was selecting the new Ms. O for the Squad. He said that while all the kids were reasonable candidates, only one of them gave him an action figure: Ohlm. So, he decided to give Ohlm the Mr. O position for the Squad, much to everyone's dismay. He kept up his stupidity act, and told the agents to give him all of their gadgets, so that he could put fun stickers on them. Meanwhile, Olympia and Oona realized that the villain break-ins started before Otis joined the Squad, so he couldn't have been the mastermind behind the break-ins. And that means Ms. O was also innocent. The two of them told Otis and Ms. O the truth and went out to find the real mastermind. They kept Otis and Ms. O hidden, so that the culprit wouldn't go back in hiding. The four of them went into the Odd Squad Files Room, and searched through the extremely large file amount in the agents' history. Then, they thought about Ohlm being Mr. O, and realized that every single time he was in Headquarters, there was a villain break-in. They also realized that Ohlm was pretending to be a fool, so that no one would suspect him. Seconds later, Ohlm shows up, with yogurt and eats with the right side of his spoon, revealing that he was faking his idiocy.

True colors[]

Ohlm puts on a pair of glasses as he reveals his true intentions. He explained what happened at the academy, and that he sold out the agents and gave the villains Odd Squad's plans. Now that he had the role of Mr. O, he was in a position to take down Odd Squad. And then, reveals that he never wanted to put stickers on the gadgets (even if he does like stickers), and took out a Sticker-inator, and trapped the gang in a giant banana sticker stuck to a wall. Agent Ozlyn gave Ohlm the last of the Squad's gadgets, and Ohlm said, "Excellent", and let out another evil laugh. Ozlyn felt like Ohlm was evil, and he felt like she was right. And then, he grabbed the Hairbrush-inator and the Hat-inator, combining them together to make the Freeze-inator. Afterward, he froze Ozlyn with it. Eventually, the main quartet gets out of the banana sticker and chases after Ohlm.

The ultimate plan[]

It turns out that the reason why Ohlm took all of the Squad's gadgets was to combine them to make gadget #10,000, and create a Black-Hole-inator that would suck up every Odd Squad agent (including himself). Ohlm nearly gets sucked into the black hole, but Ms. O goes back for him, and saves him. Olympia told Otis and Oona that they needed to take the gadgets apart. But then, Oona said, "Whoa, whoa. You can't just take away any gadget! Then it won't equal 10,000, and it'll do something else. Believe it or not, it could be even worse than that!" Ohlm told Ms. O "Ew! Your hand is sweaty!", to which she replied that she was saving him, and he asked her if she could do it without sweating so much. Otis told Olympia and Oona that they needed to take away a specific gadget to get a specific number, and asked, "Oona, what's a good number?"

She answered what it was: 9,995. At that moment, Ms. O's hand was slipping, and she said, "Agents, help! My hand is slipping!", and Ohlm said, "It's because they're so sweaty!" Oona told Ms. O that she was coming, and she told Otis and Olympia that they needed to find the difference between 10,000 and 9,995. And then, she said that it was their answer. Afterward, Oona went to go get her robot suit. Olympia told Otis to let each other use the number line, and they sat down. She enlarged the hexagon-shaped part of her smartwatch. Ms. O's hand slipped, and Oona saved both her and Ohlm in her robot suit. Ohlm said "Ew! Your robot hand is sweaty too!", but Oona replied, "You've got the sweaty hands! That's the problem!" At that moment, Otis told Olympia that they needed to find out how many numbers were between 10,000 and 9,995, and she replied that they could count up from 9,995. Her smartwatch started responding when Otis said "That's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5." He also told Olympia that they needed to take away gadget #5. And when they stood back up, he asked, "Where is it?" And then, she pointed at where it was, and answered, "Way up there!" Then, she told Otis that they'll never reach it in time.

Otis asked, "Olympia, remember how I told you my duck family used to fly south for the winter?", but she asked if they were seriously talking about that right then. And then, he said, "What I didn't tell you is...I flew with them." He then flew up to gadget #5, and separated it from the other gadgets, turning 10,000 into 9,995. With #5 separated, the black hole was cancelled, and Ohlm's plan was foiled. It turned out that gadget #9,995 was the Pineapple-inator.

Defeat[]

Otis asked if Ohlm was okay from the black hole. Ohlm was mad that Odd Squad wasn't destroyed like he wanted, and he vowed to keep fighting to destroy Odd Squad. With no options left, Ms. O realized the only thing left to do was to tell Ohlm's parents about his evil plan, and how he almost destroyed the world. Ohlm tried to explain, but his parents grounded him, and sent him to his bedroom, much to his anger and frustration.

As a result of his actions, Ohlm is fired from the Squad, and Otis and Ms. O get their jobs back where they belong. Ms. O becomes the new Big O, and Orson becomes into the new Mr. O. However, his badge was not revoked, and it remained with him.

It is currently unknown what had happened to Ohlm in the 3rd season (better known as Odd Squad: Mobile Unit), as all the villains joined The Shadow in the episode, Villain Networking, and Ohlm was still grounded.

Foreshadowing[]

Before his big reveal in the Season 2 finale, there were multiple signs that Ohlm wasn't who he seemed to be:

  • We never actually saw Ohlm solve any cases, and he would usually act like he didn't know what he was doing.
  • If Ohlm really was an idiot like he pretended to be, he wouldn't have passed the Odd Squad tests or become an official agent.
  • During O Is Not For Over, he tried to sell Otto out to Ms. O by saying that he was working with Odd Todd.
    • Also, when the monsters broke out of the doors in Headquarters, Ohlm didn't help the other agents stop the monsters.
    • When Ohlm told Otto that the Spider-Cat webbed people at 5 Main Street and 15 Main Street, Otto asked him why he didn't tell him about it. And then, Ohlm realized that he and Otto were supposed to share information, and he thought that it was a competition. But since Ohlm forgot to tell Otto about the Spider-Cat's whereabouts, it's possible that he didn't want him to catch it.
    • When the Spider-Cat was causing destruction in the city, Ohlm left Otto alone, and he didn't help him save Coach Roberts.
    • Ohlm got annoyed when he was looking at Olive and Otto's many photos and listening to very sad music.
  • In the intro of the Season 2 premiere, First Day, Ohlm appeared among the many odd problems featured in the intro.
  • First Day: During an interview made by Dr. O and Oscar about who would be the caretaker of the Creature Room, Ohlm didn't look into Dr. O and Oscar's eyes when he said his name. Also, when Oscar asked if he knows how to take care of exotic creatures, Ohlm gives lot of nonsense answers, saying that he knows how to take care of regular animals, such as dogs, cats, and fish. This indicates that Ohlm isn't the right person to take care of creatures, and he wasn't even interested during the questionary.
  • And Then There Were Puppies: When the Puppy Master (a Cruella De Vil-like villain) - turned most of the Odd Squad agents into puppies. Ohlm was one of the only agents to not get transformed, and to not be in Headquarters at that time.
    • When Ohlm made it to the Puppy Master's lair, the "fight scene" between Ohlm and the Puppy Master, was actually Ms. O picturing how Ohlm's powers of confusion might have helped him beat the villain. We don't get to see what actually happened.
    • Towards the end of that same episode, after Ohlm got the Puppy Ray, rather than zap the other agents with the ray and change them back, he zapped himself into a puppy instead. It's unknown how the agents managed to change back.
  • Happy Halfversary: While chasing Mr. Lightning, Ohlm met up with Otis. And when they passed a fence, the dog barked at Ohlm. This is quite common in dogs' sense. They can sense that a person has something strange (in Ohlm's case, it was his cruelty).
  • Three's Company: When Ms. O couldn't work in her office due to an infestation, she ended up coming downstairs and getting more involved with the agents. Ohlm stated Ms. O would find out he didn't know to do his job properly. In reality, he was trying to get rid of Ms. O because he had...other plans.
  • In the made-for-TV movie, when the Daves were doubling rapidly and planning to devour everything in sight and eventually destroy Earth, the agents spread across the world in their mirror suits to zap an agent with the Half-inator, reflecting the beam, and making all the Daves double in reverse in various different countries. Ohlm was standing somewhere in Germany, playing his part in stopping the Daves. However, he wasn't standing in the beam where the ray was hitting, and had to be reminded to do so. It was almost like Ohlm didn't want to save the world from the Daves, and didn't have a problem with them potentially destroying Germany, and eventually, Earth. And since Weird Tom was using his Hologram-inator to hide the oddness, Ohlm would've been happy if he found out about it.
  • High Maintenance: Ohlm was talking the entire time about the Popcorn Machine, which is the Odd Squad's main source of security. But since Olympia and Otis were busy helping the other agents, they couldn't help him. Also, Ohlm was very close to the Machine when Headquarters was about to destroy itself.
  • In Partner Problems, Orchid and Ohlm couldn't solve a case that they were stuck on for months. This is because Orchid was a reckless agent who doesn't handle authorities, and Ohlm wasn't even trying to solve the case, and he was letting the villain do their thing.
    • Also, Ohlm stated that he couldn't go back to the Odd Squad Academy because he couldn't find it. In reality, the Academy employees would find out about Ohlm's faking foolness.
  • In The Cherry-On-Top-Inator, when Ohlm remembered a story of how the gadget, his flashback involved him solving a case in the nightshift, where he wasn't supposed to work on this turn. This indicates that Ohlm wasn't interested to solve cases during his shift, and was adverted by Ms. O because it's his obligation.
    • Also, when Oona accidentally made a hole in the wall that caused water to leak, Ohlm used a cherry to cover the hole, which could be removed, and cause the water to leak again. The same thing would've happened if the agents used the gadget to make a cherry.
  • Sir: When the man with spaghetti-itis was in Headquarters, Ohlm wanted Oona to fix his gadget. And then, he ends up fusing his gadget with the helmet, causing the man to become smaller. Also, he didn't apologized for the incident, and it seemed like he didn't cared for the man.
    • When the Hurricane-inator caused havoc in Headquarters, Ohlm vanished and was not seen after the agents tried to solve the man's oddness.
  • The Deposit Sip-Up: Ohlm was in charge to photograph Symmetric Al's paintwork, but he blurs the camera after he puts the finger on it. This implies that Ohlm wasn't really interested in photographing, and specially, helping the other agents.
  • In part 1 of Odds and Ends:
    • The agents felt dismayed and unsatisfied that Ohlm was their new Mr. O.
    • Ohlm ran away and disappeared, making Agent Ocean a voluntary to catch him.
    • He claims that he wanted the gadgets because he wants to put fun stickers on them. And then, he put them in a giant bag, and wasn't seen for the rest of the episode.
    • When he announced in the speakers: "Attention, agents. A friendly reminder to turn in those gadgets.", it was only his voice, and he didn't announced it completely. This indicates that he was planning to do something evil with the gadgets, and he didn't want the agents to know what his evil plan was.
