~ Master Shake |
Master Shake or simply Shake, is one of the main protagonists in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force franchise.
He was voiced by Dana Snyder in most of his appearances, Dave Willis in "Baffler Meal", and by H. Jon Benjamin in "Last Last One Forever And Ever".
Appearance[]
As his name suggests, Master Shake is a giant white cup of milkshake with a flexible pink straw protruding from the top. Although Master Shake has no nose, arms, legs or feet, and reproductive organs, he does have two yellow hands with only four fingers connected on either side. His lack of arms is said to make picking up objects a bit difficult. Although Shake has no legs, he refers to his soles as his "thick ankles" in "Kangarilla and the Magic Tarantula". Like Meatwad and Frylock, Shake sometimes wears clothes, but usually doesn't. Like Frylock and Meatwad, Shake has a jewel embedded in the underside of his cup, which is only shown in The Last One Forever and Ever (For Real This Time) (We F***ing Mean It).
Personality[]
Master Shake is extremely selfish, narcissistic and self serving, only helping others if it benefits himself. He has little empathy for the suffering of the less fortunate and he completely ignores the rights of others, stealing and/or destroying their property at will, such as destroying televisions. many times. In addition, he has the temperament of a spoiled child, often throwing tantrums if things don't go his way. This is observed in the episode PDA, where he throws a chair out the window and tortures Meatwad when he suspects he has stolen his PDA.
Shake is also said to be extremely unintelligent and naive, and he frequently plots silly plots to go his own way. Fortunately, these plans rarely work out well for him, and he often feels backlash whenever his plans fail. Not only can he not see the various flaws in his plans, but he can't seem to legally stop himself from making bad decisions. His stupidity often causes a lot of damage to the town they live in, to their own home, to the various people he meets, and perhaps most often to himself. Due to his ego and narcissism, he very often, sometimes even deliberately refuses to admit his mistakes.
Shake is also extremely lazy. He can't take on any kind of work (if he ever finds one), and is solely dependent on Frylock's support, and in "The" Aqua Teens' house quickly falls into complete failure with no stabilizing effect. by Frylock. Due to his self-centeredness, Shake actively eliminates his friends. His short-term jobs often ended with him having to quit, and in Robositter, he tried to steal the cash register on his way out.
However, it's odd that in some episodes like "Circus" Shake has an unusual interest in the stock market and in "Shake Like Me" he seems to have learned about his 401k after turned back into a milkshake.
Despite his lack of talent and general stupidity, Shake possesses exceptional knowledge of the kitchen. In "Lasagna," he's revealed to be making a professional four-course dish of cheese lasagna, which he claims to have learned how to make during a trip to New York. Additionally, "Super Sir Loin" reveals that Shake can cook Steak and Eggs and Duck à l'Orange. However, his cooking abilities seem to have only been used for evil purposes, such as interfering with Meatwad's diet or torturing Carl. In addition to cooking, Shake also knows how to control a helicopter at the end of "Lasagna". He is also adept at wielding weapons, from knives to firearms, though only used for evil purposes such as wounding his enemies or killing himself. In various episodes, Shake is shown to be an avid fan of heavy metal music. He owns two electric guitars and has relationships with musicians like Zakk Wylde and Glenn Danzig.
Although he doesn't appear to have any kind of reproductive organs, Shake is actually extremely lustful for women, despite being frequently rejected by them. He also talks a lot about his sexual conquests, although Frylock points out that he has no penis and has never had sex with a woman.
During the show's first seasons, Shake was said to be very disrespectful to Meatwad, repeatedly torturing and bullying him with cruel jokes, as well as physical and verbal abuse. However, as the series continues to evolve, he seems to become more and more forgiving and kind to Meatwad. Even then, however, he often enjoys playing malicious pranks on him, such as in the episode "Zucotti Manicotti" where he nearly causes him to take his own life.
Biography[]
Unlike the other two food items, Frylock, an uptight super-intelligent box of fries and Meatwad, a childlike, yet lovable ball of meat, Shake is a rude, selfish, lazy, narcissistic (in earlier episodes, he believed he was the leader) yet dimwitted milkshake. He often likes to torture Meatwad for his amusement and annoys Frylock to no end.
Even Oglethorpe and Emory, the two idiotic Plutonians find Shake annoying. Shake's own stupidity has caused damage to the city they live in, their own house, to himself and even to the whole planet, and yet he never learns from his mistakes. He is often worse than some of the villains the Aqua Teens have encountered. Master Shake's sheer unlikability is clearly demonstrated during an instance where Frylock invents a device that, when used by an individual, emits a signal which attracts nearby friends to them. Although the device is shown to work successfully for even the ill-tempered Carl and the socially inept Meatwad, Master Shake finds that he is unable to attract any potential friends when he uses it, demonstrating that there is likely no one alive who can stand to be around Shake. This notion is further reinforced in a later episode where Frylock creates a robot girlfriend for Shake that is programmed to love him unconditionally only for her to end up cheating on him.
It is hinted that he may also be dumber than Meatwad as Meatwad has outwitted him on occasion and even gotten revenge on Shake as well, such as in "Super Model" and "Total Re-Carl". Shake has an unusual ability to make anything he throws explode. He is also shown to be terrified of vampires and suicidal action figures.
Powers and abilities[]
Unlike Frylock and Meatwad, Shake doesn't seem to possess any special or useful superpowers. The only real strength he usually displays is his ability to contract his body rhythmically and push some kind of thick, green liquid through a straw (which does absolutely nothing but splatter all over the place).
Shake can also suck water through the end of his straw, as shown in the episode "Bus of the Undead".
In the final episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force Forever, Shake has a jewel on the bottom of his cup-like body and he was about to blow them up with his eyes, but it didn't work because his gem was losing power like Frylocks.
