Commander-In-Chief Golden Mask is the Black Cross Army's top general and the secondary antagonist of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. He is the Black Cross Fuhrer' s second-in-command and his top enforcer and his most powerful and dangerous servant. Golden Mask is arguably the second most powerful enemy the Gorengers ever faced, surpassed of course only by his master Black Cross Fuhrer himself.
He is voiced by the late Shōzō Iizuka who also voiced two previous Black Cross commanders Iron Man Mask General Temujin and Volcano Mask General Magman and later voiced Satan Egos and Führer Hell Saturn.
History[]
Commander In Chief Golden Mask is a supernatural entity from Africa, resembling a pharaoh and has plenty of Egyptian references to his own personality, hideouts, and vehicles. Golden Mask is mystically awoken through the Black Cross Fuhrer's Black Magic to take over Volcano Mask General Magman's role after Magman is defeated by the Gorangers so he assumes command of the army's elite African Troopers. During the Black Cross Army's final assault, Golden Mask watches and cheers his master on before being sent to kill the Gaorangers because the Furher sees defeating them as below him. When his master is weakened by the Cassieopia, Golden Mask fights in his place only to be completely overwhelmed and impaled by the Spear Brute. Although he is mortally wounded, Golden Mask uses his final moments to reveal the location of Gorenger headquarters by turning into a rainbow of gold dust. The Fuhrer pays his sacrifice no mind and instead takes the opportunity to finally destroy his sworn enemies.
Legacy[]
True to his word, the loyal commander's soul survived, using the dust of his body to create a golden rainbow. This rainbow pinpointed the general area of the Gorenger's base, leading the Black Cross Army directly to Snack Gon and destroyed it, though the Gorengers and their allies and vehicles survived for one final battle.
However, Fuhrer was later eventually defeated and destroyed by the Gorengers, making Gold Mask's sacrifice in vain and finally putting the end to the tyrannical reign of Black Cross Fuhrer and his evil army.
Personality[]
Commander-in-Chief Golden Mask was a ruthless, sinister, tyrannical and paranormal entity, who was fiercely and totally loyal to his master Black Cross Fuhrer and loyally followed all of his orders. Gold Mask shared many traits with his master, being a misanthropic, sinister and hegemonic entity, who desired absolute power, the total world domination and extermination of human race. He was also obsessed with supremacy, a trait which he shared with his overlord. They both considered humans to be the inferior, insignificant and paltry species which deserved death and extinction and considered the race of Black Cross Army and race of robots and mechanical beings the superior and ultimate species at the Earth, who deserved absolute power and reign over the planet.
However, while the Black Cross Führer was a devilish, psychopathic and irredeemable entity, Golden Mask was more obsessed with the survival of their species and even possessed some amount of respect towards his enemies. However, this did not keep him from sabotaging others to make himself look good in front of his master, as he implanted Kendo Mask with a fighting computer to replace the latter's honorable nature. Golden Mask proved to be loyal to the Black Cross Führer to the end, as he allowed himself to be killed by the Gorenger Hurricane to reveal the Gorengers' base.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Power: Commander-in-Chief Golden Mask was an extremely powerful fighter, surpassing any of Black Cross Army's underlings and is unambiguously the second most powerful enemy the Gorengers ever faced, surpassing all other generals and monsters of Black Cross Army. He is only surpassed by his master, the Black Cross Führer.
- Superhuman Strength: Commander of Black Cross Army is inhumanly strong.
- Superhuman Durability: He is also highly durable and is able to withstand the damage from his enemies in a much greater extent than most other Black Cross Army monsters.
- Superhuman Stamina: Golden Mask is also more immune to the fatigue than human beings and mortals.
- Dark Magic: Golden Mask is also a powerful sorcerer, and can use his magic for many purposes such as creating portals. Upon his destruction, he turned into a golden rainbow to locate the base of the Gorengers.
- Expert Strategist: Commander Golden Mask is an extremely skilled strategist, being able to create a cunning plans for achieving his goals and defeating and destroying his enemies. His intelligence was arguably one of his most valuable talents which made him a valuable asset for Black Cross Army.

Trivia[]
- He had the largest number of minions compared with the previous three commanders.
- Not to be confused with Gold Mask, the first Black Cross minion.
- Golden Mask is frequently accompanied by two unique Zolders wearing heavier armor and wielding shields and poleaxes. The pair outlive their commander and continue fighting for Black Cross Fuhrer, until they are killed during the final battle when they are tricked into axing each other.
