The Betrayers, also known as Mustached Characters, are an enigmatic cult who serve the Mustached Star in the Madness Combat short ROMP.fla.
Appearance[]
Betrayers bear a close resemblance to Grunts, but lack a facial cross, instead having a full face with small semi-circular eyes, a visible mouth, and a mustache. After being given the 'Betrayal Upgrade' by their leader, the Mustached Star, the Betrayers' eyes turn black with red pupils, and they gain massive, toothy smiles. Betrayers appear to point at their target while attacking them.

The Betrayers first appeared as a group of four after the Mustached Star intervened in Sanford and Deimos's raid against an AAHW facility. After gesturing for the duo to go inside their building, the two mercenaries found even more Betrayers, who directed them towards a wall where the Mustached Star appeared again, telling them that 'their allies in purpose' had betrayed them. Immediately after that, the Betrayers attacked - one while wielding a sign reading 'YOU ARE BETRAYED!' - but appeared to be quite weak, as they could only attack by walking forward while pointing, and Sanford and Deimos were able to deal with them quickly as they fought their way through the building. However, the Star appeared again, and announced "THIS JUST IN!!! BETRAYAL UPGRADE IMMINENT!" with a giant, vicious grin.
More betrayers appeared, this time with black and red eyes and the same vicious smile as their master. Unlike the previous combatants, the Betrayers bestowed with the 'Betrayal Upgrade' were far stronger, and rapidly overpowered Sanford and Deimos, swiftly killing them. Sanford was impaled through the face with one of the signs, while Deimos, who attempted to fistfight the Betrayers, was impaled through his chest, but had his face torn off as well.
