Bara Crusher is the Piranha-themed Machine Beast of the Machine Empire Baranoia serving Acha and Kocha and a minor antagonist in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. It served as the titular main antagonist of the 4th episode and a supporting antagonist in the 33rd.
Biography[]
Past[]
As with all members of the Machine Empire Baranoia, the original Bara Crusher was built by Emperor Bacchus Wrath and Empress Hysteria some 65 million years ago on Planet Baranoia. The Machine Beasts and the Barlo Soldiers helped Bacchus Wrath to devastate and conquer multiple planets. Unlike all other Machine Beasts, Bara Crusher was not limited to being a single creature; instead being able to bite beings and infect them with small metal amoebas would rapidly multiply and turn the human's skin into metal; transforming them into more Bara Crushers within hours.
Ohranger[]
Millions of years later, in 1999, Bacchus Wrath and his Empire return to Earth and launch an invasion of Earth but the Ohrangers arise to oppose them.
After the failures of the initial invasion and Bara Vanish, Bacchus Wrath and then Prince Buldont identify Japan as an excellent place to use as a jumping off point to invade and conquer Earth. As such, Bara Crusher is sent to Earth in a meteor as part of a plan to turn all humans into Machine Beasts so that they can conquer it unopposed. Using its tracks, the Ohrangers (having detected its arrival as a foreign object) track Bara Crusher to a basement where it tries to bite and infect them only to be overwhelmed and forced to escape outside when it starts a fire. Once outside though, it manages to grab and infect Officer Otani before being killed by the King Smashers. Later that night though, Otani turns into Bara Crusher and kidnaps his son Hiroshi before doing the same to children across Tokyo although it ends up becoming a Dr. Jeckyl and Edward Hyde situation as Otani has no memory of the kidnappings.
When Chief Muira discovers the secret to the metal amoebas though, the Ohrangers deduce that Otani must be the culprit and confront him just after he infects a fellow cop and attacks an abandoned warehouse. They interrupt Bara Crusher as he prepares to infect the kidnapping children with Acha and Kocha as well as the Barlo Soldiers. Although they destroy the Barlo Soldiers, Bara Crusher swiftly gains the upper-hand against the Ohrangers: even starting a fire in the process. However, Hiroshi's pleading eventually manages to get through to his father who fights the amoebas which allows the Ohrangers to rescue the children as Officer Otani changes back. Determined to end the rampage, Otani tries to kill himself but he swiftly changes back and rampages until Goro realises that Bara Crusher is weak against fire which causes him to change back and eject the amoeba. Goro then destroys the amoeba with his King Blaster and the group flee the building as it explodes; ensuring that no more Bara Crushers can be created.
The destroyed shell of Bara Crusher is scrapped and thrown in the Baranoian scrapheap where it is seen when angry pieces of machinery form Bara Revenger although Bara Crusher's shell does not fuse with him.
Much later on, after the death of Bara Faucet, Bacchus Wrath executes his ultimate plan; harnessing the power of the Earth's volcanic magma, recreating an army of past Machine Beasts (including Bara Crusher) as giants and upgrading them with the Magma Enhancement Program to allow them to kill the Ohrangers. Unlike the other versions, this Bara Crusher lacks its parasite ability and is merely a single standalone monster. However, the Ohrangers ultimately penetrate the cave system where the upgrades are taking place and destroy most of the monsters by collapsing the cave on top of them with Bara Vanish being among them. Despite this, Bara Crusher and three other upgraded Machine Beasts are able to escape before the collapse.
Personality[]
All versions of Bara Crusher were mindless creatures incapable of speech or any form of intelligent act beyond kidnapping and infecting as many people as possible. Despite this, they were absolutely loyal to the Baranoia ruling family as well as Acha and Kocha.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: The Bara Crushers could throw around the Ohrangers, break through walls with single rams, take the Ohrangers down with single punches, send Goro flying with two punches, grab and throw down Yuji, toss around Yuji and Juri, wield a barrel like a club and throw off all three male Ohrangers when they grabbed him.
- Sturdiness: The Bara Crusher-possessed Officer Otani barely moved when Yuji and Juri ran into him in an attempt to knock over the monster.
- Charge: The Bara Crushers could charge with enough force to ram back Goro and pin him to a wall.
- Durability: The Bara Crushers could shrug off multiple punches from the Ohrangers, a combined strike from their Battle Sticks and multiple shots from Officer Otani's pistol bounced right off of him.
- Possession: Bara Crusher's signature ability where it could bite people with its jaws to infect them with metallic amoebas. The amoebas would rapidly multiply and turn the human's skin into metal; transforming them into more Bara Crushers.
- Amoeba Shooting: Alternatively, Bara Crusher could shoot the amoebas from his mouth so they would enter his victims through the mouths instead. This was usually used when trying to infect more than one person.
- Powerful Bites: The Bara Crushers had extremely strong bites, being able to chomp down with enough force to rip holes in metal poles.
- Lightning Blasts: The Bara Crushers could spray blue lightning from their eyes that was strong enough to cause large explosions and knock down the Ohrangers.
Weaknesses[]
- Fire: The Bara Crushers were extremely vulnerable to direct exposure to fire. If exposed for long enough, which it would actively fight against, the victim would return to normal and the amoeba would be violently ejected.
Arsenal[]
- Fists: The Bara Crushers had no weapons of its own but was a brutal fights with its bare hands.
- Jaws: The Bara Crushers had large silver teeth which they could use to infect people or to try and bite down on their enemies with immense force.
- Barrel: The Bara Crusher-possessed Officer Otani used a large metal barrel to strike down Goro.
