Arthur Edwards also known as the Constant is the main antagonist of the World Of Assassination trilogy of Hitman, serving as the overarching antagonist of HITMAN, the central antagonist of HITMAN 2, and the main antagonist of HITMAN III where he would be the target of the game's final mission, "Untouchable".
He is the former top controller and second-in-command of Providence and the successor to his mentor Janus in the position of Constant. After embezzling everything from his former superiors, the Partners, he would become the new leader of Providence after their deaths at the hand of Agent 47. He is also the archenemy of Diana Burnwood.
He was voiced by Philip Roch.
His Evil Ranking[]
His Villainous Deeds[]
HITMAN[]
- Was one of the very first Providence operatives to be aware that there was a conspiracy against the organization, and must have warned his superiors about it.
- Confronted Diana on a train and asked her to join him which she refused. He then gave her a photo of 47's past to tease her.
HITMAN 2[]
- Orchestrated the assassinations of Robert and Sierra Knox in Miami while claiming they were traitors to Providence by giving weapons to Lucas Grey's private militia.
- It's implied he was directly the one to order the assassinations of several private militia members for the account of the Partners.
- When 47, Diana, and Grey captured him, he ratted out the Partners and after finding out they fake their deaths, he asked them to follow their bank account in New York which led them to the cartel of Haven Island, occasionally assassinating Athena Salvalas and the Haven Cartel.
- Embezzled and usurped the Partners thanks of Haven which brought him into becoming the new leader of Providence.
- Bribed a gaoler to escape from jail.
- While he used to be loyal to the Partners this was before his capture and betrayal.
HITMAN III[]
- Indirectly oversaw the Partners' downfall.
- Sent a team of mercenaries to capture 47 and Grey which ended up with Grey killing himself.
- Made the proposition to Diana, Don Archibald Yates, and Tamara Vidal to become the new Constant of Providence, indirectly leading in Yates and Vidal's assassinations in Mendoza.
- Received an unconscious 47 thanks of Diana and planned on erasing his memory in a train to Romania.
- When 47 confronted him, he proposed him to erase his own memory to become a killing machine again, which 47 refused.
- If 47 decides to erase Edwards' memory instead, he will beg for mercy.
- If 47 decides, however, to erase his memory, he will wake up while Edwards is greeting him and preparing him to use him to commit assassinations again.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- While his murders by proxy are enough to pass the general baseline, he fails the heinous standards of the series. Most of his crimes as Constant were either ordered by the Partners or just not heinous enough to pass the Hitman heinous standards. And while he tries to use 47 as a mindless assassin, it was done already by Ort-Meyer and Alexander Leland Cayne in a much larger plan.
- He is genuinely affable.
- He has care and respect for Diana as well as for his mentor Janus.
- He accepts his defeat by letting 47 kill him, even he prefers keeping his memories intact before dying.
