Lakeside is a station on the northern end of the Skarloey Railway, reached by a loop line.

History[]

Lakeside is a sizeable community situated around the mouth of the lake, nestled between the mountains. There is a harbour here which houses a variety of fishing boats, as well as the paddle tug Lakesider III. The railway runs through the town in a loop, and a bascule bridge carries it across the lake. The station consists of two platforms and a separate ticket office. A variety of businesses are located in the town here.

Official Description[]

From the Writer's Bible:

Lakeland Station: This is the largest of the narrow gauge stations. Built alongside an inlet, it comprises a village nestling against the mountains with a rail and road bridge spanning the station and the village.
(Note that Lakeside is incorrectly called Lakeland.)

Trivia[]

  • The houses at Lakeside are inspired by Barlwyd Terrace and similar buildings along the route of the Ffestiniog Railway.
  • The pointy tops of the Lakeside Drawbridge were actually made from superglue lids.
  • In the 2003 Writer's bible, Lakeside was incorrectly called "Lakeland".
