"No one knows how to "cake" it easy like you do!"
― Sir Topham Hatt to Thomas

Cake It Easy is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.

Plot[]

It is the day of the Sodor Cake Festival. Thomas and Diesel have to collect the cakes from the baker and get them to the festival at Vicarstown on time. All the cakes are up for prizes in a competition. Thomas and Diesel set off with their cakes just as Percy pulls in with a flatbed full of ingredients. He explains that it's a deconstructed cake which he plans to enter the abstract category of the competition.

The festival cannot start until the cakes arrive, but they need to be transported slowly and carefully. Diesel suggests they speed up; the faster they get to Vicarstown, the sooner the festival can get underway. Both engines decide to race to Vicarstown, forgetting how delicate their loads are. First, the cakes get bashed around on bumpy tracks, then they get rained on.

By the time they arrive at the festival, the cakes are ruined and Thomas is covered in splodges of cake and icing. Both engines are very sorry and explain that they were so focused on getting the job done fast, that they forgot to do the job right. Luckily, Percy arrives with his flatbed of ingredients and Thomas asks if they can use them. All the engines race back to the bakery to help bake some new cakes and Carly and Sandy help by inventing an icing machine. With all the engines, Sir Topham Hatt and the baker working together, the cakes are ready in no time.

The new cakes are carefully and slowly taken back to Vicarstown. People love trying the amazing cakes and Sandy has tremendous fun whipping up more tasty icing. Sir Topham Hatt is delighted by the festival's success. He even awards Thomas a rosette for being the best decorated engine, claiming that no one knows how to "cake" it easy like he does.
