The Mechanical Snail (as named by Nintendo Power[1]) is a minor stage enemy exclusive of the NES version Strider.
Information[]
Appears in Egypt, China and Kazakh.
The Mechanical Snail is a stationary robot enemy found exclusively in diagonal inclines, like the sides of the Pyramid Base. It appears as a small machine with a hard spiked shell and a red eye sensor in its front, plus electricity flowing on its top. It uses its "arms" to attack Hiryu, throwing bladed wheels that roll down the incline and damage through contact.
This enemy only presents a mild annoyance, but can be easily taken care of by using the ground-traveling Spark Trick.

Early sprite as seen on the Famicom prototype. It resembles a snail's spiral shell much more than its final design
