Description[]
Executed by performing a Shoryuken motion? and pressing punch, Ibuki performs a very high spinning jump, turning upside-down near the apex. The move has no EX Special version.
Tactics[]
Street Fighter IV[]
Ibuki can use the move to leap over her opponent and attack with Kunai (or even her Kasumi Suzaku) before landing. If she does, the attack will be in the opposite direction of the jump.
In Ultra Street Fighter IV, the move was buffed to have zero recovery frames upon landing, allowing Ibuki to maintain her tempo while using the move. Ibuki can use this on certain knockdown setups to confuse the opponent on what side they are going to have to defend from, however this is rather gimmicky even with the buff and Ibuki's knockdown crossup and kunai mixups are considered superior overall.
Street Fighter X Tekken[]
In this version Ibuki still has the recovery before Ultra in the previous game. She also still has the same option of Kunai, but lacks Kasumi Suzaku. However Ibuki does still have access to the 2013 buff of EX Kunai where she can throw two more EX Kunai after the initial throw (provided she has meter). As Ibuki faces the other way she initially jumped from compared to a regular Jump or Super Jump Ibuki can create situations with EX Kunai to finish the opponent with Chip Damage even if they Roll . However like most other applications of Tsuijigoe this is rather gimmicky and Ibuki has guaranteed throw set ups off knockdowns from options such as Uki Yami and Raida where she can instead Throw her opponent from a roll rather and attempt chip damage if they do not.
Trivia[]
- This special move is very similar to Linn Kurosawa's jump in the 1994 arcade game Alien vs Predator (developed by Capcom), which is also fitting as Ibuki is often thought to be based off Linn in terms of visual appearance.
- In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Sheik's up B special when used in the air does a similar jumping animation before she vanishes.
- Like Kasumi Gake this attack has no EX version.
