Street Fighter V | + (During guard) |
Description
Executed by pressing forward and all three punches after blocking an attack, Chun-Li performs a two-handed thrust that resembles her Kikoken animation from the Alpha series. In Alpha 3, this move is only available to Chun-Li in X-ISM as a knockdown palm-thrust attack.
Tactics
Like most V-Reversals, the purpose is to stop opponent's pressure or to get out of tough situations. While her V-Reversal doesn't result in a knockdown, Chun-Li creates enough distance to position herself in the mid-range from her opponent.
As this attack has a rather slow startup, it is recommended for the Chun-Li player to watch the attack of the opponent before activating this, as if the attack has a fast recovery and the opponent has fast Walk Speed they can throw Chun-Li before the attack activates.
Etymology
The original name of this term is known as "fajin" (発勁) in pinyin, a term used in Chinese martial arts that involves use of internal energies for explosive force, and is often the backbone for a number of one-shot strikes in such fighting styles. "Hakkei" is the term's on'yomi rendering.
In this attack's case, the Hanyu Pinyin name of this technique would be "Shuang Fajin", with "Shuang" being written with 雙 instead of 双 in Traditional Chinese.

Trivia
- Her Focus Attack in the Street Fighter IV series is very similar to Sou Hakkei.
- This is her Street Fighter V equivalent of her Street Fighter X Tekken Cross Counter EX Spinning Bird Kick.
- In the alpha version of Street Fighter V, this was supposed to be a special move akin to its original debut in Alpha/Zero 3, thus making it be affected by Renkiko, though this idea was discarded in the final release.
