The Hazanshu (覇山蹴 Hazanshū?, "Supreme Mountain Kick"), also known colloquially as the Axe Kick, is one of Chun-Li's special attacks, introduced in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. It serves as her second V-Skill in Street Fighter V.

Description
- "Leap forward, rotate in the air, and slam your leg downward with a powerful kick. Useful for checking an opponent's sweeps, or as a way to close the distance."
- —Street Fighter 6
Executed by performing a half-circle rotation backwards and pressing kick, Chun-Li somersaults forward with one of her legs outstretched, slamming it into the ground as she lands. The Sen'enshu (from the Street Fighter Alpha series) and Hienshu (from the Street Fighter EX series) are precursors to this move.
This move is performed in Street Fighter V by pressing Medium Punch and Medium Kick simultaneously. By pressing back, plus Medium Punch and Medium Kick, Chun-Li leaps at a shorter distance before striking the opponent.
Hazanshu returns to Street Fighter 6, this time as a quarter-circle back motion-input (or pressing down and Special Attack for Modern Control).
Tactics
It is best used as a quick assault move or a countering move. The length of the move depends on the strength of the kick button pressed, with the weakest barely stretching in front of her (good for close-up attacks), and the strongest stretching just about half the stage.
This move is best used as a counter for projectiles when throw at mid to close range, as well as to score a solid knockdown for vortex and wake-up pressure purposes. However, it is extremely vulnerable to anti-air attacks and invincible counters, and so should not be used too predictably.
The Sen'enshu (旋円蹴 Sen'enshū?, "Spinning Circle Kick") launches Chun Li into the air in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, similar to its descendant, the Hazanshu. In the Alpha series, the Sen'enshu doesn't leave ground. A notable trait that also sets it apart from the Hazanshu is the increased startup, and a handstand rebound is done beforehand where Chun-Li turns mid-stand, allowing her to phase past attacks and punish certain moves with the finishing kick.
Meanwhile in the EX series, the Hienshu (飛燕蹴 Hienshū?, "Flying Swallow Kick") is an overhead flying heel slam while Chun-Li is still airborne, with both arms spread apart during her descent. The aforementioned Sen'enshu instead becomes her Guard Break/Surprise Blow instead.
In Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and Street Fighter IV, this move also has an EX Special version. In 3rd Strike it goes straight up and then down. However, in SFIV, it moves forward about the same distance as the heavy version, although it rises very fast and comes down slower. Both EX versions of this move cause knockdown.
During the OMEGA Mode In Ultra Street Fighter IV, her EX version is changed drastically, now resembling the Tensei Ranka with anti-air properties.
In Street Fighter × Tekken this returns. This time Chun-Li can use it to combo off the special if it connects and make a safe blockstring. However care must be taken as cancelling into this attack isn't a true blockstring and any opponent in the cast on reaction can punish Hazanshu with a launcher as the universal attack is programmed to ignore Hazanshu.
Hazanshu in Street Fighter V is her second V-Skill. It has a lengthy, 27-frame startup. While this attack lost its overhead properties, it gains the ability to hit an opponent after knockdown. Not only is Chun-Li -4 on block, but she's also in front of her opponent, leaving her vulnerable for a small punish. However, because it has good range, she should be safe if spaced properly. In Season 5, the move was changed so that it no longer knocks the opponent down, and Chun-Li can now combo from it using her cr.lp into other moves, like lightning legs or spinning bird kick. Chun-Li can also now cancel her cr.fp into her close Hazanshu (b+mp+mk,) to start a combo.
Against zoning characters, she can use Hazanshu to leap over their projectiles and score a hit while they're recovering. It can also be used against throwing attacks, acting similarly to Guile's Upside Down Kick. Chun-Li builds V-Meter every time this attack connects with her opponent. She can link Hazanshu from her other normals, but only if she has her first V-Trigger active. Canceling this move into Renkiko puts Chun-Li at +3 on block, giving her a good mix-up opportunity. On hit, she can juggle into EX Hyakuretsukyaku or cancel into her Critical Art.
