Akuma (Street Fighter 6)

The Adamant Flame (金剛灼火 Kongou Shakka?, "Vajra Blazing Fire") is one of Oni's Special Attacks in Ultra Street Fighter IV's OMEGA Mode under the name Fukuma Gohado (伏魔豪波動 Fukuma Gōhadō?, "Malevolent Great Surge"). It returns in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution under the name Shakunetsu Messho (灼熱滅掌 Shakunetsu Messhō?, "Scorching Heat Perish Palm"), where it is now used by Akuma. It returns once more in Street Fighter 6, where it goes by its current name.

Description

Akuma TK7 vs Kazuya

Shakunetsu Messho.

"A quick thrust engulfed in flames. Useful for exploiting an opponent's opening, or in combos."
Street Fighter 6

Executed by performing a quarter-circle forward motion and pressing Light and Heavy Punch simultaneously in Omega Mode of Ultra Street Fighter IV, Oni strikes the opponent with his palm before firing a Gohadoken at them while they are stunned.

In Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, Shakunetsu Messho is executed by pressing forward twice and then pressing 2. Akuma performs a quick right palm strike followed by a more explosive left palm strike which launches the opponent away. In the game's second season, Shakunetsu Messho was given wall bounce properties.

AdamantFlame

In Street Fighter 6, the move is performed by performing a quarter-circle back motion and pressing punch (or pressing back and Special Attack for Modern Control). Akuma advances forward with a flaming palm strike. By following up by pressing forward and punch (or pressing forward and any attack button for Modern Control), Akuma performs a secondary strike. The Light version has Akuma performing a body blow as his follow-up. Akuma delivers a powerful, flaming punch that knocks the opponent back during the Medium version. Heavy Adamant Flame has Akuma launching the opponent upward with a fiery uppercut. The OD version has Akuma delivering alternating punches with the second punch knocking them back to the wall.

Tactics

The Light version preforms a palm strike that keeps the opponent in place. Medium Adamant Flame medium launches them away, while the Heavy version launches them airborne with a uppercut, allowing for follow-ups. The OD version adds a third palm strike that wall splats the opponent.

Akuma reels back slightly before thrusting forward, potentially allowing him to avoid certain attacks before striking for a Punish Counter. The Medium and Heavy versions in particular gain incredible advantage on Punish Counter, at +10 and +12 respectively. Adamant Flame is safer the further out the first attack hits, with the Heavy version being safe on block at all ranges, albeit with considerably more startup. The OD version sends the opponent flying into the corner for a Wall Splat, though unlike similar moves such as OD High Blade Kick, Akuma has to be closer to the corner to follow up with a combo.
