Xander Cran was a human male who was a member of the Path of the Open Hand cult.[1] In 382 BBY,[2] Cran got into an altercation in the city Ferdan on the planet Dalna with Athul Taran, who was frustrated with the Path's presence in the city and recent pattern of them buying up property. Cran became more agitated when Jedi Knight Oliviah Zeveron and Jedi Padawan Matthea Cathley arrived and tried to stop the arguing. Calling them defilers of the Force, Cran raised a blaster he had been hiding under his robes to them and accused them of messing with his mind. Zeveron eventually got him to lower the blaster, but he still blamed the rains on Dalna and a supposed 'imbalance' of the Force on two Jedi that he said had come to the Path searching for something, Jedi Master Zallah Macri and her Padawan Kevmo Zink, though he did not refer to them by name. The Path had secretly been responsible for their deaths, which Cran knew about. The news that other Jedi had been on Dalna shocked the Jedi, leading them to ask more questions and at the request of Taran eventually investigate the crates Cran was transporting. Cran claimed that they were just filled of grain for food, which they appeared to be, but some of them were secretly carrying enforcer droids. Zeveron and Cathley then hid in one of the carts to sneak into the Path compound, influencing the mind of the cargo hand who was pushing it to believe they weren't there. On the way, Cathley was worried by the fact that she felt guilt inside of Cran when he mentioned the Jedi Master and her Padawan.[1]
