The Original Trilogy Stories was published on September 1, 2015 in the United States. The title, designed for readers ages 3-5, retells situations and events from films in the original trilogy.^[1]

In November 2015, Disney–Lucasfilm Press released three abridged eBook versions of The Original Trilogy Stories, each title collecting the short stories adapting each original trilogy film. A New Hope: 6 stories in 1^[2] and Return of the Jedi: 6 stories in 1^[3] were published on November 10, 2015, and adapted the films Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi respectively. On November 17, The Empire Strikes Back: 6 stories in 1 was released, adapting Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.^[4]

On November 22, 2016, Disney–Lucasfilm Press released a special edition reprint of the book.^[5] An unabridged audiobook was released with the Prequel Trilogy stories on March 19, 2019.

Star Wars Treasury: The Original Trilogy, published by Egmont UK Ltd in 2015, uses many of the same illustrations as The Original Trilogy Stories, including the same cover artwork.
