- "The ore barons have forged and hardened phrik for bones. We build palaces where others would struggle to even mine."
- ―Baron Rubix
Phrik was a rare and robust alloy.[4] Phrik was mined on Gromas, in the Perkell sector,[1] and Tatooine in the Arkanis sector. The Jedi Archive once contained an ancient staff made of the metal, which was on display at the Valo Republic Fair and briefly wielded by Lourna Dee, a Tempest Runner of the Nihil.[5] The dual lightsabers created by Darth Sidious during his apprenticeship under Darth Plagueis were made from phrik.[2]
Electrostaffs built by the Baktoid Armor Workshop were also made of phrik,[6] making them resistant to lightsabers.[7] Vicrul's scythe was reinforced with phrik threads, requiring a greater application of pressure in order to cut through it with a lightsaber.[8]
Phrik was mined at the Mos Algo mine on the desert planet Tatooine[9] sometime before 3 ABY.[10]
In 3 ABY,[10] a shipment of phrik was scheduled to be sent to Imperial governor Thorden who governed the Outer Rim Territories moon Toshara. Its delivery was documented in shipment log #459, which was stored on a datapad on Fuel Station Visavi, stationed in Toshara's orbit.[9]
Behind the scenes[]
In the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Grievous Intrigue," Grievous fights Obi-Wan Kenobi, and his lightsabers cut through an electrostaff.[11] This runs counter to depictions of electrostaffs throughout the series,[12][13][14] and it remains unexplained why the phrik failed.
