Midnight Madness was an event held across the United States at midnight, April 2, 2005, in which Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith toys and merchandise were officially released. Vendors that participated in Midnight Madness included Wal-Mart, Target and Toys R Us.
Toys R Us held a similar midnight event for the 2008 release of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie. In addition to the new Clone Wars and The Legacy Collection lines, the major items were the Big Millennium Falcon (BMF) and the large AT-TE vehicles.[1]
"Midnight Madness" can also refer to the midnight premiere of a Star Wars movie. Many fans dress up as characters from the saga, most choosing stormtroopers or Jedi, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and will wait in a line for over a day, if not longer. The advent of online ticket purchasing has reduced the number of people who wait in line to get a ticket, but rather to get a good seat.
