"This place is dangerous, in case you hadn't noticed."
Saché[2]

The Mauler Stronghold was the base of operations for the Maulers on the planet Naboo during the Galactic Civil War. It consisted of a small Nabooian villa and a bunker facility, located near the city of Keren.[1] The area used to be inhabited by peaceful Naboo philosophers but it turned to smoking ruins after the Maulers occupied the place.[3] Mauler beast masters trained veermoks for fighting and had enclosures in the Stronghold.[1]

History[]

"The Mauler Stronghold is a difficult place to get into, but I need somone to sabotage their weapons cache."
Captain Typho, to a spacer[4]

In 1 ABY,[5] The Royal Security Police Force raided the Mauler Stronghold and killed the Mauler leader known as the Mauler Usurper.[6] Around the same time, the Stronghold was also targeted by the Royal Marine Regiment. Weapons caches were confiscated[4] and four Mauler leaders were eliminated: the chief tactician Zolo Sartain, the chief of security Yarick Tempol, the assassin Xylan Kee'choap and the mystic Walus Mutin[7]

Later, a spacer sent by Boss Rugor Nass entered the Mauler Stronghold to retrieve one of the pieces of a broken Gungan artifact scattered by the Ultragungans in various areas of Naboo.[8]

The same year, the Maulers raided the Corellian Security Force. Jabba the Hutt's henchman Bruce McBrain later dispatched a spacer to the Mauler Stronghold in order to retrieve the destruction code sequences of a CorSec Corellian Corvette possibly stolen by the Maulers.[9]

  5. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
