- "I've been thinking of names as I've been trying to get this wreck shipshape. Geth if it's a boy, obviously. Mari if it's a girl."
"Mari?"
"My mom's name. Mine too, actually, although I never liked it, until now." - ―Shea Ganandra and Yana Ro
Mari was a female individual who was the mother of[1] the human[2] female Mari.[1] By 382 BBY,[3] Mari—now known as Shea Ganandra because she did not like her original name—was a member of the Path of the Open Hand's Children, a group of Path members who obtained Force artifacts on behalf of the Path's leader Elecia Zeveron.[1]
Following the Night of Sorrow that year, Ganandra left the Path and planned to become a cargo hauler with Yana Ro—an Evereni[2] female who had served alongside Ganandra in the Children—and to raise her unborn child. Once she revealed her pregnancy to Ro, Ganandra informed her that she intended to call the baby Mari if it was a girl. After the Evereni questioned the choice of name, Ganandra responded in embarrassment that Mari was her mother's name, as well as her own, before admitting she had not liked the name Mari before.[1] The baby ultimately was a daughter.[2]
