The Marauder assault armor was a type of armor created by the Sanyassan Marauders from the Forest Moon of Endor. It offered a high degree of protection against kinetic damage but lesser protection from energy-based weapons like blasters. This armor was usually made up of any available moldable materials that may have some protective traits. Hence, its effectiveness could vary greatly, depending on the type of materials used and the skills of the armorsmith. A typical complete armor set comprised helmet, chest plate, left & right biceps, left & right bracers, gloves, leggings and boots. It was available in several different colors. Two other models of Marauder armors also existed: the Marauder battle armor and the Marauder recon armor. In addition to the Sanyassan Marauders on Endor, Marauder armors were worn by spacers during the Galactic Civil War.[1]

After the Battle of Yavin, a trader encountered the Sanyassan Marauder armorsmith Macchbraus on the Forest Moon of Endor. Macchbraus requested the trader to craft him bone, composite, Mabari and padded armors in exchange for teaching him to create Marauder recon and assault armors.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Marauder assault armor appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] Initially, the Marauder assault armor was only worn by Marauder non-player characters in the original release of the game.[2] The armor was later made craftable and wearable by players with the release of the "Game Update 5," on July 29, 2008.[6]
