"Tonight is my time. I take leadership of the Skaak Tippers outside of Kaadara and I take my Skaak Tipper name, Jonni Skaak. The past is nothing. It's gone. Only my future matters and it awaits."
―Jonthol Mazoon[1]

Jonni Skaak, formerly Jonthol Mazoon, was the leader of the Naboo branch of Skaak Tippers until he was assassinated by agents of the Royal Naboo Security Forces.

Biography[]

"I'm very excited about my next assignment. I am to infiltrate the Skaak Tippers by posing as a minor criminal and then joining them. This kind of thing is exactly why I became an RSF Agent."
―Jonthol Mazoon[1]

Born to Harriet Mazoon, Skaak was himself a former RSF officer. His first mission was to reduce the nightspider population around Kaadara and eliminate the giant nightspider Noctur'lan. He was then assigned to break up a local group of smugglers who call themselves Beachcombers and arrest their leader, Phranis Bolgar. After this success, he was sent to investigate the activities of the Skaak Tippers. Becoming more and more entangled in the Skaak Tippers, he killed their leader and took up leadership himself.[1] The RSF agent who killed him found his journal which told the story of his career as a Skaak Tipper leader.[3][1]

Behind the scenes[]

Jonni Skaak appeared as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[3] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] Jonni Skaak was added to the game as part of the "Legacy Quest" with the release of the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[5]

  2. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
