Joel McNeely composed the musical soundtrack for the Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire multimedia project.
Biography[]
McNeely wrote the music for two other Lucasfilm productions: the 1992 television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and the 1994 feature film Radioland Murders.[1]
McNeely was hired to compose the musical soundtrack for the Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire multimedia project, according to which he took a classical approach. The soundtrack would accompany the storyline of a book storyline instead of a movie. Robert Townson met with him to discuss the storyline's mood and grandeur, the dominant themes and agreed on what had to be composed. He also provided him with concept art by Ralph McQuarrie.[1]
In the spring of 1996 McNeely traveled to Scotland to conduct the Royal Scottish National Orchestra for the Shadows soundtrack.[1] Some of his compositions are heard in the soundtrack for the Shadow of the Empire computer game.[2]
