The ship was used by a group of New Republic agents who were assigned to recover a relic from a crime lord named Mahk'khar located on Tuulab. The ship returned to the Nova and was then used by the team to transport them to Delari Prime for a mission to meet with Oron to get more details about the relic. While leaving the planet, the ship was ambushed by a group of four TIE interceptors but managed to escape them. After returning to the fleet, the team took the Instigator to Jaresh. The group then traveled to Galaan where they used the Instigator to defend a New Republic base.^[1]

The ship was disguised under the name Surge and used by a group of New Republic agents to investigate problems in the Betha system.^[2]
