For other uses, see Din.

Din was a star that at one point existed in the Din system.[3] The system lay within the Outer Moddell systems area of[2] the Moddell sector,[1] one of the subsectors making up the Inner Zuma Region[2] within the Outer Rim Territories' Zuma sector.[1] The Din system was situated adjacent to the hyperlane known as the Trindello-Endor Route, which connected it to the Endor and Trindello systems.[2] Din's name originated from the art and songs of the Sanyassa system's Sanyassan species.[3]

Prior to its destruction in a supernova in approximately 5000 BBY, Din was orbited by three gas giant–type planets. The supernova vaporized any inner planets Din may have had and boiled away the vast atmospheres of the gas giants, leaving behind their exposed cores—one of which was a diamond the size of a terrestrial world that had been formed by the intense pressure in the planet's atmosphere. The supernova left behind an energetic pulsar and an expanding nebulosity of red gases.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Din was first mentioned in the article "Endor and the Moddell Sector," which was published in the ninth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine[3] on February 22, 2002.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Din system, and therefore its former star, in grid square H-16.[2]
