Devlor Samt was an Imperial scientist. While surveying an uninhabited planet, Samt's team was attacked by two hostile aliens. Samt's team killed the pair, but found their son nearby. Samt took the child, Voegliss, and raised him as his own son. When Voegliss turned fifteen, the local sector Moff directed the Imperial Army to capture Voegliss to use as a special operative. Voegliss remained loyal to Samt throughout his service.
