"These tiny tarts pay homage to Arayakyak, made entirely from fruits and nuts that can be found growin' in the mountain's jungle orchards. For those who happen to be spendin' their Life Day on some other planet, though, there's no need to worry. You can easily sub in just about any berries local to your world with equally delicious results."
―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook[1]

Arayakyak Tarts were a type of tiny dessert tart that paid homage to Mount Arayakyak on the planet Kashyyyk. The tarts were made entirely from fruits and nuts that could be found growing in the jungle orchards on the mountain. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for the tarts in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, which he released at some point after publishing his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY.[2]

Tuggs, who considered the fruits of Mount Arayakyak to be some of the freshest and most delicious on all of Kashyyyk, suggested serving the tarts during the Life Day festival. However, he stated that anyone celebrating Life Day away from Kashyyyk could instead substitute the ingredients from the mountain orchards for local berries and still achieve an equally delicious result.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Arayakyak Tart was created as a recipe for the 2021 Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the topping uses shelled raw pistachios, packed light brown sugar, and water. The recipe for the filling uses granulated sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, large eggs, an egg yolk, cubed and unsalted butter, and salt. The crust recipe uses graham cracker crumbs, chopped shelled raw pistachios, melted and unsalted butter, packed light brown sugar, salt, raspberries, and mint leaves.[1]
