Etymology
From Средњи Енглески single, sengle, from Стари Француски sengle, saingle, sangle, from Латински singulus, a diminutive derived from Proto-Indo-European *sem- (“one”). Akin to Латински simplex (“simple”). See simple, and compare singular.
