The comments policy details how comments are to be used. These are important so that all users can use them effectively, without having to see too much unwanted content.
Comments policy
The following types of comments are banned in all circumstances, including in blog comment sections, and will be deleted on sight:
- "Real title card" comments that consist of a random image that would in no way resemble a true title card. Fan-made title cards with effort put into them are permitted.
- Single word comments which do not provide anything new to the conversation, including replies. These include, but are not limited to, "bruh" and "e."
- "Happy / unhappy birthday" messages, or any variant of these messages, unless directed at an ESB user.
- Comments that quote something from the article or its subject in some way, without providing any additional context or opinion in relation to the quotation.
- Replies to a comment that are in no way related to the parent comment or one of the other replies.
- Comments that simply state an opinion on an episode, character, etc. without elaboration or providing anything new to the conversation. These include, but are not limited to, "An awesome character!," "This is a bad episode. (2/10)," "This is my favorite SpongeBob game!," and "New rating: 7/10."
- Comments which contain or ask for links to full episodes, including those from SpongeBob SquarePants and its spinoffs. Do not reply to comments asking for links to full episodes. Instead, report the comments to an administrator or discussion moderator, and they will deal with them accordingly.
Blog comments
Blog comments are subject to the same banned comment types rules as article comments. Any blogs with one word or letter will be deleted. In general, it is up to the creator of the blog whether or not to allow commenting. However, in circumstances where the comments section of a blog is proving particularly problematic, an administrator may disable the comments section on the relevant blog(s), at their sole discretion.
Administrators and discussion moderators reserve the right to delete any comments they see as unnecessary.
