Logo of Kidrobot.
Kidrobot, Inc. is a well-known creator of art toys, collectibles, apparel, and accessories, founded in 2002. In 2014, the company was acquired by NECA. In 2016, it was announced that Kidrobot would produce Sonic the Hedgehog toys in celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the series.[1]
Sonic the Hedgehog × Kidrobot (2016)[]
Collectible Vinyl Art[]
Kidrobot's first Sonic product was part of a collaboration titled Sonic the Hedgehog × Kidrobot. A 7-inch display piece/art figure was produced by the company for the collaboration. It depicted Sonic performing a Spin Dash in Green Hill Zone, with a trail of Rings ahead. The figure was developed by Bigshot Toyworks.[2]
A metallic variant of the figure was exclusively available on Kidrobot's website, limited to two-hundred pieces worldwide.[2][3]
Sonic the Hedgehog (2016)[]
Soon following the art figure, Kidrobot produced more merchandise to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, however not under the collaborative title. The merchandise is based on Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and consists of vinyl figures and keychains.

Plush[]
Phunny and Roto-Phunny[]
The Phunny plush collection is a line of plush toys of popular creepy characters, but softened up to be more huggable. They are about eight inches in height and usually in a sitting pose.[6]
Due to the style of Phunny becoming popular, non-creepy characters eventually joined the series and Phunny plush toys of Sonic characters were made.
Kidrobot later started the Roto-Phunny line of plushes. Each character is 8" tall and uses rotocast elements. One of the early characters of the line was Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic & Friends Vinyl Mini Series[]
In 2021, the "Sonic & Friends" 2-packs first released. Each pack has two 3" vinyl figures of characters resembling Kidrobot's Munny style, each including a Chaos Emerald that they can hold.
Despite the figures using the modern designs of the characters, Tails, Metal Sonic and Knuckles have their classic designs used as their molds. Knuckles also has two spines on his back.
