Synopsis[]
Chapter 1[]
Feeling that their son, Elias Acorn, has been gone too long, King Maximillian Acorn and Queen Alicia Acorn inform Sonic and Sally that while other agents have been sent to find the prince, they wish the two to assist in the matter. The agents in question, Geoffrey St. John and Hershey Cat, have trailed Elias to Feral Forest; however, they also discover Dr. Eggman activity in the area. Their plane is then shot down and they are forced into a rough landing. A resident of the forest, Joss, is discussing his daughter Meg's pregnancy with a neighbor when they notice a commotion; the word quickly spreads that a plane has crashed in the vicinity. While Joss goes to check it out, Meg decides to inform her husband, going into the backyard where Elias is chopping wood.
Chapter 2[]
Geoffrey addresses the people of Feral Forest, introducing himself and Hershey and warning the community about the advancing forces of Dr. Eggman. He implores them to stand up and fight for their land. While the crowd eagerly embrace this idea, Elias walks off disenchanted, commenting to himself that Geoffrey "always did have a knack for making bad ideas sound like good ones at the time." When Meg attempts to talk with him, he only says that he is tired of war and politics and only wish for a peaceful life, adding that the rest of the forest should desire the same. Meg thinks to herself that his stance must stem from his past—of which he refuses to speak of. Not long after, while at home, Elias reflects on his decision to run away from his problems having finally caught up with him; Meg informs him that they have guests, bringing in the two agents. Both, shocked to find the prince, kneel before him.
Chapter 3[]
To Meg's confusion, Elias angrily begins packing his bags, saying that the two of them would be leaving. Geoffrey voices his disapproval of the heir to the throne running away from his problems, and implores Elias to listen to him. With that, Elias lunges at the skunk, saying he is sick of taking orders from him. Then, an explosion sounded, distracting the group, and a number of E-105 Army robots burst through the wall, demanding surrender. Geoffrey asks Elias if he would prefer to take orders from Dr. Eggman instead.
Shortly afterward, Eggman gloats over his victory, enjoying the surprise bonus of not only capturing a member of the House of Acorn, but his wife and future child as well. His joy is short-lived, however, as a number of his robots are quickly dispatched as Sonic and Sally appear. However, Eggman remains confident as he still has a large number of robots, saying that Sonic and his friends are outnumbered. Geoffrey, concerned, admits to this, but Sonic disagrees, his point proven as the people of Feral Forest rise up in protest. Sonic, Sally, Geoffrey, Hershey, Elias, and the rest of the forest denizens make quick work of the remaining robots, eventually forcing Eggman to flee. Sally and Elias embrace, the latter apologizing for not saying goodbye when he left. Sally is happy for his marriage, but when she adds that their parents will be excited to see their son again, Elias says he will not be returning to Knothole. He claims that he is now accustomed to the simple life of a woodcutter and does not want his future child to be forced into politics. Despite this, Meg invites the group to stay for dinner, to which Sonic accepts on the condition that chili dogs be part of the menu.

Synopsis[]
Mitre Kali-Ca performs funeral rites for Knuckles the Echidna, speaking of his lineage, work as Guardian, and sacrifice. Many are gathered and mournful; Constable Remington and Espio the Chameleon secretly reflect on the loss while Julie-Su, Vector the Crocodile and Lara-Le are more outward in their anguish. However, another person simply finds the situation weird; Knuckles does not understand how he can supposedly be dead while watching his own funeral. He finds himself surrounded by past Guardians, and Steppenwolf comes forward to explain that members of the Brotherhood do not simply die but rather evolve to another plane of existence. Harlan adds that their connection to the Chaos Force has bound them. Knuckles attempts to get Sabre's attention by waving a hand in front of his face, but Hawking explains that as they are on separate planes, Sabre cannot see any of them; furthermore, he adds that they on their current plane cannot see those beyond themselves, such as those where the likes of Athair or the Ancient Walkers have ascended. Tobor adds that they can only move to the final plane of existence when the heralds of Aurora call them forth.
Knuckles finds this all a bit much to take in, and wonders why his father is talking with Kali-Ca rather than being with the rest of his family. Janelle-Li explains that while Locke knows what is to be expected after a Guardian's death, it does not make it any less painful to lose his son so young. As Kali-Ca intones the final rites, Knuckles suddenly notices a bright light; Steppenwolf says that it signals the arrival of the heralds of Aurora. Moonwatcher eagerly tells his father Steppenwolf that it is finally his time to join the Chaos Force; however, Harlan notices that the heralds are gesturing to someone else. The heralds announce to Knuckles that the Chaos Force has chosen him. Kali-Ca ends her service with "May Aurora guide and protect you" and the Chaotix silently leaves.

Synopsis[]
Mina Mongoose stoods nervously on stage and wills herself to speak, introducing herself to the gathered crowd. She reflects that if she did not like Sonic so much, she would kill him for volunteering her into a concert performance. Among the crowd, Tails asks Sonic why he has put Mina on the spot, adding that she looks uncomfortable, and Sonic replies that while Mina is not much of a Freedom Fighter, he was incredibly impressed with her singing. Mina notices she has not said anything further and tells herself to announce what she is going to sing before realizing she herself does not know. Silently pleading for help, Sonic makes eye-contact and gives her a thumbs-up. Reasoning that if Sonic believes in her, she should as well, Mina resolves to not disappoint him and signals for the band to start. As she sings, the crowd grows impressed and Mina overcomes her shyness. Sonic points out to Tails that she was getting into the swing of things and that he had made a good choice.
Meanwhile, in Castle Acorn, Sally is working with Nicole when she suddenly notices the sound of music. Going to the window, she voices her enjoyment, saying she did not known Mina had such talent. She listens happily at the window while Nicole attempts to get her to return to work, the latter saying that by measuring decibel levels, she finds the sound overrated, though she adds that she lacks ears. Oblivious, Sally continues to watch as the crowd applaud Mina. The mongoose happily thanks the crowd while Sonic and Mina's mother Isabella shows pride at her talent. Mina jumps from the stage and runs into Sonic's arms, giddy at her success and saying it is all because of him. Seeing this, Sally is caught by surprise, and sullenly returns to Nicole, saying she is right; the sound is overrated and they should get back to work.
