Season 19 |
|
The nineteenth season of The Simpsons originally aired from September 23, 2007, to May 18, 2008. This is the first season produced after The Simpsons Movie and contains seven hold-over episodes from season 18's JABF production line, marking this the first season to be the post movie era of the show. This is the last season of The Simpsons to have all of the episodes produced in standard definition.
In production order, this is also the final season to use the second opening sequence used since Season 2.

Effect of Writers Strike[]
In November 2007, the WGA (Writers Guild of America) went on strike. Season 19 was originally going to have 23 episodes, but due to the strike, only 17 episodes were finished after Treehouse of Horror XVIII, which was the last episode aired before the strike. Luckily, episodes still had post-production as FOX edited the scripts after production was finished.

Trivia[]
- This is the last season to be fully produced in 4:3 standard definition: it has nine episodes that were broadcast as part of Season 20, with the tenth episode of that season (the first in its production order) switching to 16:9 high definition.
- This is the first season of a few things:
- The first season of the post-movie era.
- The first season to use a slightly different animation style.
- The first season to be affected by the Writers Guild of America strike, if not counting the final season of The Simpsons shorts in 1988.
- Bart's voice becomes slightly deeper starting in this season, possibly due to Nancy Cartwright aging.
