Shoto Todoroki to Tenya Iida in "Climax".

Shoto Todoroki is the tritagonist of My Hero Academia.

He is voiced by Yuki Kaji in Japanese and by David Matranga in the English dub.

What Makes Him a Shonen Rival?[]

• Heroic: Shoto has saved many lives from villains, with one of his most famous heroic acts being preventing his brother Dabi's suicide attack.
• Honorable: Contributing to wanting to be a hero to genuinely help people and not out of personal gain, refused to let his abusive father's legacy and domineering behavior define him, has a strong sense of self-discipline, has a growing willingness to acknowledge and confront his own flaws, chose to use his full power (both ice and fire) instead of shunning his left side like his father did, he has actively worked to overcome the psychological damage he was given that his father Endeavor inflicted at the expense of his well-being, and he even shows genuine respect for both; his classmates and opponents (even apologizing when he ever goes too far and does acknowledge their strengths).
• Tragic Past: He has an extremely sympathetic past, as he was born to a Quirk marriage so that his father, No.2 Pro Hero Endeavor, could create a child who could surpass All Might. As a result, when Shoto was born, he was deemed his father's perfect creation, and had to endure relentless abuse and strict training. If that wasn't enough, his mother went mad because of all the abuse his father gave, and poured a kettle on his face, scarring him.
• Intelligent: Shoto is overall very intelligent, both academically and analytically. He also appears to be a thoughtful and calculated fighter since he often shows his ice and fire abilities strategically to effectively subdue opponents without unnecessary harm.
• Naturally Talented: Shoto possesses the powerful Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk, which makes him a powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with.
• Arrogant/Jerkish: While he has subverted this and becoming pure in heart, Shoto used to be somewhat overconfident of his abilities, and used to have a few moments of being pretty self-absorbed, dismissive and a jerk due to his originally cold personality. Thankfully, he loses this side of him thanks to Midoriya making him pure.
• Pursues a Big-End Goal: Shoto wants to become a hero of his own accord and become anything but Endeavor.
• Stoical: He is very emotionless most of the time and expresses his emotions sometimes during battle.
• Irritable: While he is nonchalant and a lot more collected than the bad-tempered Bakugo or the unhinged Monoma, Shoto can lose his cool at times, especially whenever his father is mentioned or seen by him.
• Persistent: Has put enough time and energy into training his Quirk to become as powerful as it is.
• Unnatural Hair Color: Due to his ice/fire powers, he has red hair on the left side of his head and white hair on his right.
• Born into Privilege: While he wants nothing to do with him, as the son of Endeavor, Shoto does have more resources than most people do.
• Perpetual Frowner: Because of his past trauma, Shoto rarely smiles and generally wears an indifferent expression on his face, and was often quiet and reserved. However, thanks to Midoriya's influence, Shoto develops a more cheerful disposition and begins to smile more frequently.
• Is a Chick Magnet: He happens to attract many women in and out of Class 1-A very easily without him even realizing it (ex. Mina talking about his good looks, Mount Lady flirting with him during the Hero Interview Training and Camie calling him "hot" and wanting his number during the Remedial Course Arc), much to the annoyance of Mineta.
  • This happens especially during the dorm room tour Shoto was given when several of his female classmates view him as desirable while Shoto remained oblivious to this, and even during one of the light novels, the 1-A girls (and even four of the Class 1-B girls) were thinking about who would be perfect "boyfriend material" during the training camp, and they all agree that Shoto was one of their best choices, which would've been shut down back then if his father Endeavor heard about this since he would disapprove of the idea of Shoto dating anyone.
• Wears Blue/Red/Black: His hero outfit has a dark blue, short-sleeved jacket and pants with light red gloves and a vest.
• Has Respect for a Shonen Hero: As stated earlier, he does show to deeply respect his classmates that includes Midoriya, Kirishima, Bakugo, Togata, and even adults like All Might, who are all Shonen Heroes.
