Reach for the sky!
~ Woody's catchphrase

Woody Pride, also simply known as Woody, is the main protagonist of the Toy Story franchise. He is voiced by Tom Hanks.

What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: Woody saves his friends by helping them escape from Sunnyside Daycare when Lotso kept them as prisoners.
  • Courageous: Woody risks his life to save others, going out of his way as sacrificing his voice box to bring Forky back from Gabby Gabby.
  • Energetic: While not as hyperactive as Jessie, Woody has moments of being excitable and playful.
  • Stubborn: Woody is willing to go to great lengths to do the right thing even when others around want him to give up.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: Woody wants to be there for his owners Andy and Bonnie to make sure that they have happy childhoods.
    • However, with Andy all grown up to leave for college and Bonnie no longer needing him, Woody decides to stay at the carnival to pursue his purpose to help lost toys find new owners while enjoying the freedom of being a lost toy himself.
  • Hard-Working: As the leader of the toys, Woody puts in his time and effort to make sure that the toys will be able to put Andy and Bonnie's happiness before themselves.
  • Optimistic: Though he started out as a cynical person, Woody becomes more optimistic in the later films.
  • Determined: As stated by Andy, Woody is not the kind of toy who easily gives up, no matter the odds.
  • Confident: Woody has high faith in himself and his ability to lead the toys despite his own doubts.
  • Believes in the Power of Friendship: Woody befriends the Mutant Toys despite being initially terrified of them, going as far as to needing their help to save Buzz from Sid.
  • Possesses Plot Armor: After Lotso leaves Woody and the rest of the group to die in the garbage incinerator, the Little Green Men saved them by using the claw to lift them from the incinerator.
  • Short-Tempered: Even though he becomes a friendlier person in the later films, Woody still can lose his temper and yell at his friends from time to time.
  • Is a Primary-Color Champion: Woody wears blue jeans, red bandanna and a yellow with red plaid shirt.
  • Is a True Hero: Alongside Buzz, Woody even risked his life to save Lotso from being shredded into pieces despite his misdeeds.
  • Street-Smart: Is so incredibly wise and clever enough to think on his feet while knowing that he is only a toy.
