Etymology[]
The Banshee comes from Irish myth. The "Bean sÃdhe" ("Woman of the burial mounds"), are female faeries said to foretell the death of a member of an Irish clan to its members, by means of a haunting wail.
They are depicted in numerous forms; sometimes appearing as an old and hideous hag, or as an ethereally beautiful young woman.
