Team SAFR is back baby! And they're tasked with helping bring communication back to the besieged city of Kuchinashi!

"Can You Hear Me Now?" is the tenth episode of RWBY: The Grimm Campaign and the first episode of Season 2. It premiered on the Rooster Teeth website on February 15th, 2021, for First members.

Summary[]

The story opens with a report from the desk of Glynda Goodwitch, who records a log titled “the Kuchinashi incident”. She expresses her curiosity in the antiquities regarding the incident and asks about Team SAFR, delivering the message to Ozpin.

Two weeks have passed since the Wave and Hana Guild clashed on the Pastel Manor. The Wave anticipated it could remove the Hana in one fell swoop, only to find that many members still lie in the shadows of the city, leaving the bid for power rather short-lived. Since then, Kuchinashi has been in a stalemate – with all rival crime syndicates making an appearance. Vermillion Raddock, the Hana’s leader, is said to still be alive, and the city guard has been either killed, in hiding, or captured. The Wave has since knocked out the local Cross Continental Transmit System station, removing access to communications in the immediate region. Takaya, headmaster of the city’s combat school, has organized a small force to hide in the city’s sewer system to try and bring order to Kuchinashi.

Takaya brings Team SAFR word of an old relay tower built further away from Kuchinashi in a less defensible location, and tells them to re-enable it to call for Huntsman aid. Nearly complete with their day’s journey to the northwest tower, the group decides to rest in a campfire. In the distance, they hear a man crying out in pain, recognizing his voice. Asher Mora and Pyke Rite go out to investigate, sneaking to the tower and finding it to be more grand than they realized; containing an encampment with people residing around it. The two inform Arrastra Skye and Fenix Nemean of what’s going on. They find that near the relay tower is a cave, noticing more people hiding inside. In the cages, Asher sees that the settlement has imprisoned Alabaster, the sheriff of Kuchinashi.

Fenix, however, is caught by the guards as the rest of the group sneaks by. The leader of the group, a man named Grayden, orders his men to keep their weapons on him. Fenix convinces the man he is a starving wanderer, learning that this group had abandoned Kuchinashi years ago to escape from the crime. The group has been using the CCT relay’s backup power to sustain their way of life, living in the caves and raiding people to steal what they can to survive. Fenix asks Grayden why they had imprisoned Alabaster, who explains that the former Huntsman tried to call for aid to bring order to Kuchinashi, having been imprisoned as it would risk the settlement’s power supply. In the cages, Alabaster notices Fenix and begs for help from him and his team. At this, Grayden draws a scimitar at the Faunus. Asher reveals himself, surrendering as to not start a fight. The guards sound the encampment's alerts.
