World Wrestling Entertainment
NXT (2015-2018)
McKay received a tryout with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) during their tour of Australia in August 2014. On April 13 2015, WWE announced McKay as part of a new class of NXT trainees. McKay made her televised in-ring debut on the June 10 episode of NXT, where she competed in a losing effort against Becky Lynch under the ring name Jessie. On 7 August, she was given the new ring name Billie Kay. After competing in most of her matches at NXT as a face, Kay competed on her first match as a heel on the October 21 episode of NXT, losing to Asuka. Through the end of 2015, Kay started being managed by fellow wrestler, Sylvester Lefort, during multiple NXT live events, however it did not last for long after Lefort was released from his contract in February 2016.
On the January 13, 2016 episode of NXT, Kay competed in a number one contender's battle royal for Bayley's NXT Women's Championship, which was won by Carmella. Kay made her first appearance on the main roster on the June 30 episode of SmackDown, where she worked as a jobber losing to Dana Brooke. Kay finally made her return to NXT television on July 27, where she achieved her first live victory in the company by defeating Santana Garrett. After asking NXT's general manager William Regal for a match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II on the August 17 episode of NXT, she was granted one against the debutant Ember Moon. At the event on August 20, Kay was defeated by Moon. Following a brief hiatus, Kay returned on the September 21 episode of NXT, where she defeated Aliyah.
In October, Kay started a tag team with Peyton Royce, later dubbed as The Iconic Duo, and later entered a feud with Liv Morgan with the duo attacking and defeating Morgan in singles matches. This ultimately led to a six–women tag team match at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, which was taped and aired for the November 23 episode of NXT, in which Aliyah, Ember Moon and Morgan defeated Kay, Royce and their partner Daria Berenato. In the end of December, Kay and Royce were placed in a brief feud with the NXT Women's Champion Asuka after the latter stated there is no competition for her. This resulted in a fatal–four-way match, which also involved Nikki Cross, at the NXT TakeOver: San Antonio event on January 28, 2017, in which both Kay and Royce failed to capture the Women's Championship.
SmackDown (2018–2019)
Renamed as The IIconics, Kay and Royce debuted on the 10 April episode of SmackDown and attacked SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair after she cut a promo about her match at WrestleMania 34. Kay made her singles debut during the April 17 episode of SmackDown, losing to Charlotte Flair. She returned the next week for the April 24 episode of SmackDown with Peyton Royce, in a tag match defeating Asuka & Becky Lynch. On the 1 May episode of SmackDown, Kay and Royce teamed with Carmella, in a tag match lost to Asuka, Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair. Two weeks later, Kay returned for the May 22 episode of SmackDown, competing in a Money In The Bank Qualifying match lost to Lana. She returned the following month on the June 12 episode of SmackDown, where The IIconics teamed with Carmella, Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville in a five-on-five tag match lost to Asuka, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Lana & Naomi.
Returning the following month on the July 10 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics wrestled in a dark tag match lost to Becky Lynch & Naomi. Kay returned two weeks later on the July 24 episode of SmackDown, losing her second singles match against Asuka. The following month, The IIconics returned on the August 7 episode of SmackDown, losing a tag match against Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair. Returning on the August 28 episode of SmackDown, Kay won a singles match, defeating Naomi. On the August 18 episode of SmackDown, Kay lost to Asuka in a rematch. On October 6, The IIconics appeared at the pay-per-view Super Show-Down, in Melbourne, Australia, where they won a tag match defeating Asuka & Naomi. On October 21 at the WWE Live SuperShow, The IIconics teamed with Becky Lynch in a tag match lost to Asuka, Carmella & Charlotte Flair. On October 28, The IIconics competed singularly in the first annual Evolution pay-per-view event, as part of the 20-Women Battle Royal, eventually won by Nia Jax.
On the November 20 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics interrupted an in-ring promo by Charlotte Flair. Flair had just been fined $100,000 for putting her hands on officials during an assault on Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series. The IIconics talked down Flair’s actions but Flair was in no mood for their antics. Flair would challenge one of the IIconics to a match and would defeat Kay. Flair then challenged Royce immediately. It appeared Flair was going to defeat Royce too until Kay caused the disqualification. Flair would reverse the post-match beat-down and began handily throwing both IIconics around ringside. On the January 15, 2019 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics interrupted a confrontation between Becky Lynch & Asuka, declaring their intent on winning both the Royal Rumble match and the recently announced WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Kay then lost a match to Asuka. On January 27, at Royal Rumble 2019, Kay competed in her first Royal Rumble match entering at #7. She did not enter the ring, however, informing the ringside commentators that she was waiting for partner Peyton Royce. Nikki Cross was next in at #8 and attacked Kay, prompting Kay to enter the ring to attack Cross. Royce would enter at #9 and The IIconics would eliminate Cross before being eliminated themselves by Lacey Evans a few minutes later. On February 2, in an online exclusive video, The IIconics confirmed they will be competing in the Elimination Chamber match to crown the Women’s Tag Team Champions. On the February 5 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics competed in a Triple Threat Tag Team match against the two other SmackDown teams announced for the Chamber: Fire & Desire (Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville) and the pairing of Carmella & Naomi. Fire & Desire won the match when Rose pinned Naomi. The following week, on the February 12 episode of SmackDown, a rematch was held with a stipulation added: the losing team would enter the Elimination Chamber first. Naomi would pin Rose this time. On February 17, at Elimination Chamber 2019, The IIconics competed for the newly minted WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship inside the Elimination Chamber structure. The IIconics were the second team to be released from the pod and managed to eliminate Carmella & Naomi. Kay & Royce attempted to hide from the team of Nia Jax & Tamina by locking themselves back inside a pod but it was in vain and The IIconics were eliminated by the Samoans. The match would be won by the Boss & Hug Connection (Bayley & Sasha Banks).
On the March 12 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics verbally chided Bayley & Sasha Banks for not appearing on SmackDown since winning the Tag Team Championship despite the fact the title holders can appear across all 3 brands. The next week on the March 19 edition of SmackDown, the Boss & Hug Connection did indeed show-up and faced Kay & Royce in a non-title tag team match. A match which was won by The IIconics. On March 25 on WWE.com, a Fatal Four Way match for the Women’s Tag Team Championship was announced involving Boss & Hug Connection, The IIconics, Nia Jax & Tamina and Beth Phoenix & Natalya. On the April 1 episode of RAW, The IIconics had their first match on the red brand, teaming with Jax & Tamina in a losing effort to Bayley, Banks, Natalya & Phoenix. On the April 2 episode of SmackDown, Kay & Royce had an in-ring promo explaining why they’re going to become Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania. On April 7, at WrestleMania 35, The IIconics would win the Fatal Four Way to become the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Kay stole the pinfall of Bayley after a second-rope Glam Slam from Beth Phoenix.
On the April 9 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics claimed to be fighting champions and successfully defended the Tag Team Championship against local competitors. Paige watched from backstage and promised to bring a credible team of her own next week. On the April 16 episode of SmackDown, Paige’s team turned-out to be a pairing of Asuka and NXT call-up Kairi Sane, who would later be known collectively as The Kabuki Warriors. The IIconics would team with Fire & Desire in an eight-man tag team match losing to Asuka, Sane, Bayley & Ember Moon. Over the next few months, The IIconics were largely directionless with a teased title defense against The Kabuki Warriors not materializing. They would, however, have a successful title defense against Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross on the June 17 episode of RAW. On the July 16 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics finally did defend against Asuka & Sane but Kay & Royce got themselves intentionally counted-out, thus retaining the championship. It was more of the same on the July 30 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics were originally scheduled to face Fire & Desire and if the latter team won, they would earn a title shot. The match didn’t happen. On the August 5 episode of RAW, The IIconics put their Tag Team Championship on the line in a Fatal Four Way Elimination match against Bliss & Cross, Fire & Desire and The Kabuki Warriors. The IIconics were the first team eliminated ending their reign at 120-days. Bliss & Cross would ultimately win the match. The IIconics would fail to recapture the Tag Team Championship from Bliss & Cross on the SummerSlam 2019 Kick-Off Show on August 11.
After a brief hiatus due to Peyton Royce getting married in real life, The IIconics returned on an episode of Main Event which aired on Hulu Plus on September 11. They defeated the uneasy pairing of Dana Brooke & Sarah Logan. Although it was never specifically stated, Royce potentially suffered an injury during this match and The IIconics would disappear from TV once again, save for a cameo appearance by Kay chasing 24/7 Champion Carmella around the building on the September 23 episode of RAW.
RAW (2019-2020)
On the October 16 edition of The Bump, it was revealed The IIconics had been drafted to RAW as part of the 2019 WWE Draft. After returning to in-ring competition on the Australian Tour the previous week, The IIconics would make their return to television on the October 28 episode of RAW, losing to Charlotte Flair & Natalya. On the November 18 episode of RAW, The IIconics would interrupt a promo by RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. Kay & Royce voiced their displeasure at being left off of the Survivor Series team and the lack of opportunities in general. This led to a tag team match that saw Lynch team with Charlotte to defeat The IIconics. Following this defeat, The IIconics disappeared from TV for undisclosed reasons.
After a near six-month absence, The IIconics returned on the May 11, 2020 episode of RAW as surprise guests on A Moment of Bliss. The IIconics demanded a title shot from hosts and Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross but Bliss declined stating The IIconics had to earn it first. This led to a non-title tag team match which The IIconics won with their new finisher the Fall from Grace. The IIconics would get their championship match the following week on the May 18 episode of RAW. However, Royce got overzealous and was disqualified for continuously driving Bliss into the corner. During a backstage argument, Kay slapped Royce for her mistake before immediately apologizing and hugging her friend. On the May 25 edition of RAW, The IIconics had a confrontation with Bliss & Cross. They claimed that Cross was riding the coat-tails of Bliss which elicited a fiery response from Cross. Cross let The IIconics know how hard she worked to get to WWE and that Alexa befriended her when she felt all alone in a foreign country. A brawl ensued with The IIconics leaving on top. On the June 1 edition of RAW, Kay defeated Cross in a singles match. On June 8, it was announced that the Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley & Sasha Banks (who defeated Bliss & Cross on SmackDown), would defend their newly won crown in a Triple Threat match at Backlash against both The IIconics and Bliss & Cross. On that night’s episode of RAW, The IIconics and Bayley & Banks competed in a non-title Triple Threat Tag Team match which was won by the pairing of Asuka & Charlotte Flair. Later that night, Asuka & Flair wrestled each other. Bayley & Banks provided commentary until The IIconics attacked them from the crowd. On the June 12 episode of SmackDown, The IIconics appeared via satellite during a segment between the two teams they’d face in two days’ time. Kay & Royce warned Bayley & Banks not to turn their backs on Bliss & Cross, who then attacked Bayley & Banks from behind. On June 14, at Backlash 2020, the Triple Threat match ended with Banks pinning Bliss to retain. The next on the June 15 episode of RAW, The IIconics defeated Liv Morgan & Natalya before calling-out Bayley & Banks issuing a challenge for a title match next week, Bayley & Banks did not appear. Later that night, however, Bayley & Banks had an in-ring celebration of Bayley’s birthday. The IIconics interrupted this, wanting an answer to their earlier request. An exchange of words led to Royce slapping Banks prompting Bayley to accept the match. On the June 22 edition of RAW, The IIconics failed in their third attempt to recapture the Tag Team Championship since their return with Bayley & Banks retaining.
On the June 29 episode of RAW, The IIconics began a feud with Ruby Riott. They made fun of Riott’s unsuccessful attempts to rekindle her relationship with former Riott Squad teammate Liv Morgan. Kay was in Peyton Royce’s corner for her victory over Riott later that night. The following week on the July 6 episode of RAW, Kay also defeated Riott in singles action. On July 13, Riott teamed-up with Bianca Belair, whom had defeated both IIconics in singles matches on Main Event in recent weeks. Belair continued her dominance over Kay & Royce by winning the match for her team. On the August 3 episode of RAW, The IIconics interrupted the Kevin Owens Show in which Owens was attempting to have Riott & Morgan reconcile. Owens did not appreciate the interruption and told The IIconics to leave. Both IIconics then slapped him. Owens asked for assistance from Riott & Morgan who then tackled Kay & Royce. An impromptu tag team match was made which was won by the former Riott Squad. Kay would then be in Royce’s corner for consecutive singles victories over the Squad; Morgan on August 10 and then Riott on August 17. On August 30, on the Kick-Off of Payback 2020, The IIconics faced Riott & Morgan in a tag team match. There were still some trust issues lingering within the Squad and Kay & Royce tried their best to turn Morgan against Riott throughout the match. Morgan almost walked-out on Riott, however, she would return for the hot tag and eventually help her team win the match. The next night on the August 31 episode of RAW, a rematch took place with much higher stakes: the winners would become #1 contenders to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship; the losers must disband. The Riott Squad won the match leaving The IIconics huddled together in the ring in tears. Later that night, Kay & Royce appeared on RAW Underground, which was a fight club like environment. Kay was thrown into the ring against her will by Royce and beaten-up by Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir.
One week after their forced break-up, The IIconics faced each other in singles action on the September 7 episode of RAW. Kay was initially a little upset at Peyton Royce’s betrayal on RAW Underground the previous week but the encounter was mostly friendly competition. Royce would win the match and help Kay up after the bell, hugging her. On the September 21 episode of RAW, despite not being allowed to team together anymore, Kay still managed Royce during a non-title match with RAW Women’s Champion Asuka which ended in disqualification when Asuka’s rival Zelina Vega interfered. The IIconics were officially separated during the 2020 WWE Draft. Royce was drafted to RAW, while Kay initially went undrafted on TV but was later assigned to SmackDown.
SmackDown (2020-2021)
Upon arriving on SmackDown, Kay began a gimmick of carrying around a résumé with a list of her credentials on one side and her head-shot on the other. She would use the résumé to try to impress management or woo potential tag team partners. On the October 30 episode of SmackDown, Kay attempted to qualify for the SmackDown Survivor Series team when she competed in a Triple Threat match against Bianca Belair and Natalya. Belair won by pinning Kay. On the December 4 episode of Talking Smack, Kay interrupted the Riott Squad’s time on the panel with Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott challenging Kay to find a partner for a tag match next week. On the December 11 episode of SmackDown, Kay’s partner was revealed to be a Natalya. Kay & Natalya weren’t on the same page and the Riott Squad were victorious. On December 18, Kay tried a new tag team partner, Tamina, but further miscommunication led to another win for Morgan & Riott. On the January 1, 2021 episode of SmackDown, the Riott Squad defeated the team of Natalya & Tamina. Kay was ringside for the match and switched allegiances multiple times but neither side wanted her support. The next week, Kay suggested a Squad should be more than just a duo and offered to join the team but Morgan & Riott declined. When Kay became hysterically sad, Morgan attempted to console her which Kay misinterpreted as acceptance into the group. On the January 15 SmackDown, Kay accompanied the Squad to ringside for Morgan’s match with Natalya. Natalya’s ally Tamina chased Kay into the ring which distracted Morgan causing her to lose. On the January 22 edition of SmackDown, Morgan & Riott lost a non-title tag team match to Asuka & Charlotte Flair after again being distracted by Kay’s antics. Kay apologized to Morgan & Riott in the backstage area, and told them that after speaking with WWE Official Sonya Deville she was able to secure Morgan & Riott entry into the Royal Rumble match. However, Riott still informed Kay that the Squad would be better off without her. On January 31, at Royal Rumble 2021, Kay participated in the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Entering at #4, Kay waited from ringside, even joining commentary, as she offered each following entrant the chance to form an alliance. #8 entrant Jillian Hall accepted the offer and the two women worked together until Kay turned on her. The Riott Squad would get their revenge on Kay by eliminating her from the match. On the February 5 SmackDown, Riott lost to Bayley after more failed “help” from Kay. On February 12, Morgan also lost to Bayley after Riott & Kay argued at ringside. On February 19, now fully accepting she will not be part of the Riott Squad, Kay successfully provided a distraction which led to the Squad losing a tag team match to Natalya & Tamina. On the April 2 edition of SmackDown, Kay offered her résumé to Carmella, who appeared interested. On the following SmackDown, it was revealed that Carmella had officially accepted the offer. The two competed in a #1 Contender Tag Team Turmoil at on Night 1 of WrestleMania 37. They were one of the first two teams to enter and eliminated Ravishing Glow (Lana & Naomi) but fell to the Riott Squad. On April 15, McKay was released by WWE alongside several other wrestlers.
Impact Wrestling
Debut; Tag Team Champion (2021-2022)
On October 9, 2021, at the Knockouts Knockdown PPV, it was revealed that McKay & Cassie Lee had signed with Impact Wrestling, promising their debut for Bound for Glory. They would be wrestling under their real names and their tag team would now be known as The IInspiration. On the October 21 episode of iMPACT!, a contract signing was to take place between The IInspiration and Knockouts Tag Team Champions Decay (Havok & Rosemary). The IInspiration did not appear in person, instead sending their legal representative RD Evans in their place. On October 23, at Bound for Glory XVII, The IInspiration were able to defeat Decay, becoming Tag Team Champions in their very first match with the promotion.
