Web War is the thirty-fifth episode of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. It features the debut of the Trans Armor Cycle.

Synopsis[]

A spider monster named Arachnor captures four Rangers and the entire Lightspeed staff. Using the experimental new Trans Armor Cycle, utilizing his new abilities Carter defeats Arachnor and the Vyprari to save his friends.

Plot[]

Carter is out with Ms. Fairweather testing the prototype Trans Armor Cycle on a dirt track race course. Everything works well until Carter attempts the armor equip, resulting in him being knocked off the bike while it crashes into a safety wall of tires before erupting into flames.

In Skull Cavern, Diabolico is confronted by Arachnor, who offers her services in return for nourishment for her babies. Accepting her offer, Diabolico sends her out to capture civilians around Mariner Bay. After she escapes her first encounter with the Rangers, taking her victims with her, Carter is back with Ms. Fairweather testing the repaired prototype Trans Armor Cycle while the other Rangers go after Arachnor again, but are captured, even before Chad and Joel can activate their Mega Battles. When Carter arrives on scene and can't find them, seeing a chance to find more victims, Arachnor disguises herself as a small spider and hitches a ride with Carter back to the Aquabase. Once there, she quickly gets to work capturing any and all Lightspeed personnel, including Captain Mitchell and Ms. Fairweather. Before being taken by Arachnor, Ms. Fairweather gives Carter the passkey for the Trans Armor Cycle. Using it, Carter morphs and takes it into action to find and rescue everyone.

However, Loki and Vypra see his attempt, and Vypra personally goes to stop Carter in her Vypari. Some Batlings help her by commandeering two cars, but after Carter disables them, then Vypra causes another car to crash out before some construction workers pull the driver out before Vypra blows it up with her Vypari's weapons, having had enough, Carter fires one shot from the Trans Armor Cycle's main weapon, which the Vypari's shields are unable to deflect as it pierces clean through, causing the Vypari to crash and burn, leaving Vypra seriously injured before she passes out from her wounds, while the construction workers cheer for Carter before he heads to find Arachnor.

He arrives just as Arachnor's babies are starting to hatch and quickly shoots the egg sac down, setting it ablaze, killing Arachnor's children, before rescuing the other Rangers, who set about rescuing the other captives while Carter faces Arachnor with the Trans Armor Cycle. Once the captives are freed, Ms. Fairweather and Captain Mitchell usher both civilians and Lightspeed personnel to safety, while Arachnor tries to hitch a ride on the Trans Armor Cycle to get back at Carter for killing her children, but soon dismounts to take the high ground. Carter transforms the Trans Armor Cycle to its armor mode, and when Arachnor tries to scan it to render herself immune to it, she can't as the formatting is too complex for her to process. As a result, she is soon obliterated by the Trans Armor Cycle, and for good measure, she is blown up at least three times to ensure her demise.

Back in Skull Cavern, Bansheera is furious with Loki, Diabolico, and Vypra for their failures. When Diabolico tries to explain himself, Bansheera silences him, before delivering an ultimatum to all three that they will suffer her unforgiving wrath if her palace is not restored soon.

Back at the test track, Carter finishes his latest run with the Trans Armor Cycle, and upon returning to the tent where Ms. Fairweather, the other Rangers, and her techs are, as Carter declares the Trans Armor Cycle a complete success, Dana is startled by what she thinks is another spider, but it turns out to be a headset. When Carter takes a moment to tease her about it, the other Rangers decide to get back at him with a fake, plastic one. Nevertheless, he takes it in stride, and the last shot of the episode is of the Trans Armor Cycle in all its glory.

Errors[]

  • to be added

Notes[]

  • The dirt bike that Carter tests in the beginning makes the sound of a two-stroke but is clearly a four-stroke bike.
  • The vehicles the Batlings steal during the chase, are a Chevy Blazer, and a Dodge Dakota.
  • A reference of Carter being scared by a rubber spider as a prank towards the end of the episode would later be used in "Eye of the Storm" (Ninja Storm), when Kapri and Choobo scare Marah with a rubber spider, after questioning about being afraid of spiders. This may itself be a reference to a similar prank Tommy pulls on Zack at the end of the Mighty Morphin episode "Itsy Bitsy Spider".
