PLEX International design Co.,Ltd. (株式会社 プレックス Kabushiki-gaisha Purekkusu) is a Japanese design company that develops designs and material for Kamen Rider Series, Super Sentai and Power Rangers.[1]
They were originally founded during the Popy days until the toy licensing transferred to Bandai. Since then, PLEX has handled most if not all designs- namely the suits, weapons, mechas/Megazords, robos/Zords, villains, and anything visual that could be developed into a toy.
PLEX began working with Haim Saban on Power Rangers starting with Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, where they created the Titanium Ranger exclusively for the show.
Notably, they designed the three Spirit Rangers for Power Rangers Jungle Fury as well as cockpit forms for Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Super Samurai such as the various Mega Modes and the Shogun Mode. According to PLEX lead designer Tsuyoshi Nanoka, he stated that the Mega Mode design was originally reserved exclusively for the Kamen Rider series, but brought in for Samurai as the Shinkenger cockpit footage was deemed replaceable; furthermore it was an opportunity to introduce more toys to the Samurai and Super Samurai toyline.[2]
