The Heisei Fox Battle (平成キツネ合戦 Heisei Kitsune Kassen) is the fortieth episode of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger.
Synopsis[]
Tsuruhime helps a girl rescue her brother when he becomes abducted by a fox Yokai using children as hostages to make money off of.
Plot[]
Tsuruhime is fighting a girl named Sakurako at a temple as a fox statue glows and turns towards them; the girl wipes down as Tsuruhime asks if she found her missing brother Shinichi, but Sakurako states she'll find him. The fox statue stops glowing and transforms into a Yokai stating she is the Nine-Tailed Kitsune stating the Kakuranger are soon to be finished.
Sakurako wanders through a field as she hears the sounds of a barking fox; she rushes towards it as strange Dorodoro in fox masks pop up and down making her scared before she sees the Nine-Tailed Kitsune dancing about, shocking her. Back with the Kakuranger, Tsuruhime asks Saizou if they know anything with Saizou stating that more kids keep being kidnapped; Sasuke confirming that people in fox masks are abducting kids, using them to get ransom from rich parents yet not returning the kids in the process, making the team realize how terrible they are. Sakurako rushes to Tsuruhime telling her to see something, with Sasuke telling the others to let them handle this while they find the fox-mask people. Sakurako tries to show Tsuruhime the Nine-Tailed Kitsune that had appeared, making Tsuruhime realize it was a Yokai and realizing that it's doing evil again. Sakurako worries about Shinichi as Tsuruhime reasons that's why her brother is at risk as she states she wants to help defeat the Kitsune and save Shinichi with the abilities that Tsuruhime taught her, making NinjaWhite admire her bravery. Convinced, Tsuruhime gives Sakurako a new ribbon that she thanks her for before it suddenly starts to rain making them retreat realizing how strange it is. Tsuruhime realizes it's a sun shower while the other Kakuranger retreat underneath a bridge realizing how strange it is. Sasuke also realizes that it's raining while the sun is out, making him state that if it's raining while it's sunny, a fox is getting married, which Sasuke realizes may have to do with the kidnapping. Sasuke continues that all the abducted kids stated they'll go to see a fox's wedding before leaving.
As the rain stops, a rainbow appears that Sakurako at first admires, but then hears more strange fox barks as she sees a procession of fox-masked people in formal wear including a bride also in a fox mask. In an office building, the Nine-Tailed Kitsune mocks her stating that all children love folktales and when mentioning a fox wedding, which she did in a disguise as an old woman while stating that the kids are alone when doing it, she was doing so as part of her scheme, now plotting to use this to get Tsuruhime. Sakurako tells Tsuruhime remembering that Shinichi wanted to see this wedding before he vanished. The procession appears before them, Tsuruhime confirming it as a "fox wedding" as they go within a tunnel; the procession vanishes as Tsuruhime and Sakurako wonder what happen to it, but their eyes soon glow within as the fox-mask Dorodoro soon appear, attacking the duo as Tsuruhime transforms to fight them off while Sakurako uses her staff. Tsuruhime shoots the Dorodoro with her Kakulaser, but Sakurako is soon captured forcing her and the other Kakuranger to fight them off, the males telling her they'll defeat the threat as she runs in pursue of the girl. Tsuruhime soon sees Sakurako fainted on the ground, she rushes to her and tries to get her to wake up, but a fox tail appears from her and strangles her, the girl turning into the Kitsune who states it's too late as she realizes she transformed as the Kitsune states they're the trickster fox clan and she disguised herself to trap her as she places a fox mask on Tsuruhime's face, capturing her. Elsewhere, Sakurako is placed in the same holding area as Shinichi, her brother.
At the Yokai Mansion, Daimaou shows surprise finding out that the Nine-Tailed Kitsune captured Tsuruhime; the Yokai asks for a reward as Daimaou complains but gives her a reward and congratulates her. Kitsune asks if these are leaves disguised as fake money but confirms it's real as Daimaou states he'll tear the Kakuranger from limb from limb as he imagines killing NinjaWhite and laughing. Daimaou tells Kitsune to deliver the Kakuranger to him.
Elsewhere, the fox-masked Dorodoro are confronted by more fox-masks that drop away; they investigate but the Kakuranger beat them up as they approach as they find the warehouse with Sakurako and the other children; the girl asks how they figured it out but Sasuke states that Tsuruhime left a trick in the girl's ribbon, showing a transmitter that they were able to use the Doron Changer to track down. Meanwhile, Tsuruhime struggles with the rope on her feet as Nine-Tailed Kitsune appears to torment her, asking about her fancy room as Tsuruhime states she bought the building with all the ransom money of the tricked parents. Kitsune states that the Yokai will soon rule the world with Daimaou revived and she needs to host all the Yokai throughout Japan and the world, thus the need for this; she further states that the parents will pay as much as demanded for the hostaged children and she will be able to buy more buildings like this. Tsuruhime tells Kitsune to stop bragging while throwing the rope away, stating she was captured on purpose to reveal her evil and rescue the children before becoming NinjaWhite; Kitsune wonders how she can deceive a deceiver as Tsuruhime leaps on top of the Yokai as she's down as the other Kakuranger appear before behind her. Kitsune throws a bomb at them which the Kakuranger throw away quickly, blowing the building up and the team out of it with the Yokai as she states she's going to show her true power.
The Kakuranger rush as she blows fire towards them, sending the team into an illusion of fire where they're attacked by the Nine tails of the Kitsune capturing Tsuruhime and Seikai; she then prepares "lipstick bullets" she shoots at the two of them as they realize they're in a Youjutsu; they unite their swords and uses the "Kakuremaru Beam" towards the Yokai, freeing them from the illusion. They soon start the Kakuranger Ball, shot by Tsuruhime towards the Yokai defeating her, leading to her to use the Yoki Cloud and grow, only for Ninjaman to soon arrive to attack her with his sword and fists. Kitsune soon calls him a novice turning him into Samuraiman giving the team time to form Super Kakure Daishogun and defeat her with the Samurai Rage Bomber and Iron Fist Flying Finish; the Yokai dying stating she wants to live and deceive more people.
Later, Sakurako and Shinichi eat crepes at Nekomaru with the team admiring Tsuruhime's student until a sun shower appears forcing them under the roof while wondering about another fox wedding approaching; yet the rain is revealed to be Jiraiya stupidly throwing water down from the roof.
