Dark Horse Comics is an independent comic book publisher headquartered in Milwaukie, Oregon and founded in 1986 by comic shop chain owner Mike Richardson.
It is the third largest publisher of comics in the USA and since its inception has had a profit share practice with artists and creators, giving them full credit for their work and a fair salary as well as creative freedom to make stories that the Big Two of Marvel and DC or other publishers would never allow to be made. Notable titles published by Dark Horse include the Hellboy franchise by Mike Mignola, The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way and the long running Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai.
In 2024, the publisher collaborated with Hasbro and Boom! Studios for a Usagi Yojimbo comic crossover with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
