Bakuage 13: Treacherous Procurement (裏切りの調達 Uragiri no Chōtatsu) is the thirteenth episode of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. It features the debut of Boonboom Safari and Boonboom Killer Robo. Boonboom Marine makes a brief appearance in this episode.

Synopsis[]

The Boonboomgers are a "Bakuage" Sentai, but for some reason their tension is low and they have become "Bakusage". Then, Genba makes friends with the Hashiriyan! And then, the Sanseaters use their "special weapon" to hunt down the Boonboomgers...!?

Plot[]

Ishiro and Taiya are in the Garage working on the next new set of Boonboom Cars, Safari and Marine. Ishiro has finished preparing the vehicles when Mira, Genba and Jyo walk in with the latter asking what they are working on.

Taiya says that his team up with Go-On Red and the Engines had inspired him, he had Ishiro install cutting edge A.I. into Safari and Marine so that the team can work alongside the Boonboom Cars. Taiya says that the two mecha are a culmination of everything that Bun Bun, he and Ishiro have learned with Bun Bun designing the vehicles, Taiya modified and assembled them and Ishiro handled the software. Genba is impressed, saying that the team is coming along nicely in working together.

Taiya activates the Cars and Mira and Jyo try saying hello to them but the vehicles don’t respond and shut their lights off. Mira wonders if they are sleeping, but Ishiro figures out that, having advanced A.I., Safari and Marine don’t trust the team yet having just come online and they have to work to earn their trust in order to win their respect and cooperation. Mira and Jyo challenge each other to see who wins the respect of Safari and Marine first, with Genba amused that it will be yet another lively day with his teammates.

At the warehouse, Cannonborg is inputting something to an unknown device and completes its preparations, proud of his secret weapon he had been developing that he hopes will eliminate the Boonboomgers. Cannonborg holds an evil version of the Boonboom Changer in his hand as he laughs, ready to deploy his evil project upon Japan….

Meanwhile, Taiya has delivered an item to a client, a woman who wanted a rare cassette tape from over 20 years ago featuring traditional Japanese folk music sung by her late mother. She is very happy to receive the tape, as she can now hear her mother’s songs again. Her daughter comes to her and asks what the box is, the woman says that it is a cassette tape and with it the child can hear her grandmother sing. Taiya is happy to see the woman smile and heads out, paying for his parking and getting in the car with Ishiro.

He reports another successful delivery, with Genba coming by to collect his procurement fee, as it was not easy to obtain an antique form of media and he had to pay a premium price for it. Taiya is about to reach for his wallet, but Decotrade loudly announces on his microphone that he and his crew want the Boonboomgers to come out, which catches the attention of the others and Taiya calls Bun Bun to come pick up his car out of the parking lot so he doesn’t get towed or a ticket.

The team gathers at the spot and sees the Sanseater Trio, who gloat that today is the day they finally will beat them with Decotrade trying to blast the Boonboomgers as they change, only to have his projectiles be deflected. He is still oddly confident, saying that the Trio have a secret weapon to defeat the Rangers and ordering Ittasha to activate it with the evil Boonboom Changer-like device. She does and the ground shakes as a giant robot emerges from underground, which they have given a name to: Boonboom Killer Robo.

They then unleash an attack from Boonboom Killer’s speakers, a strange Up and Down Ondo song which initially confuses the BoonBoomgers. Jyo angrily complains about this attack as being a mere Public Disruption, but suddenly he becomes too weak to move. This strange phenomenon is also contracted by Mira, Ishiro, Taiya and Genba. The Sanseaters gloated that the Ondo song sound waves are harmful to the Boonboomgers that weaken them the more they get cranked up, and vice versa. Ultimately this renders them so cranked down until they are all out of their transformations.

Taiya tries to call for a Boonboom Car to get everyone away from the Trio but the sound waves have knocked out their ability to summon the Cars and Bun Bun can’t do it from the Garage as he got hit by the waves and is too weak to move, collapsing on the floor. Ittasha is impressed, thinking that maybe the “egghead” Cannonborg isn’t all talk after all. Yeiyei is excited and asks if they are going to finish their foes off with Decotrade about to move in to “blast the Boonboomgers off the Earth”.

Desperate, Taiya asks Genba if he has procured anything for this emergency and he says he has, pulling out a fire extinguisher to blind the Trio and give the team the opportunity to escape. Decotrade is upset that the Rangers got away but Ittasha tries to stay positive as they successfully drove the do-gooders off, which does cheer him up as they all have a good evil chuckle about it.

Back at the Garage, everyone is too lethargic and can’t power on their gear or move. Mira complains that the evil song is somehow spinning in her head and won’t leave, keeping her in this state, with Ishiro knowing that means that the effects are produced by sound waves. Jyo is worried that they might be stuck like this forever and they will never be Boonboomgers again, sighing in despair. Genba manages to get up and move, while Taiya laments that if only they could somehow smash Boonboom Killer’s speakers to eliminate the song’s effects on them. He suddenly notices that Genba is gone, with Safari reacting.

Cannonborg announces to the Trio that with all obstacles out of the way they can rampage to their hearts content, ordering them to start collecting Ghassolin by terrorizing humans. The Trio is surprised when Genba offers to help them, having figured out that they have a device that inverts the polarity of their Changer’s energy. He begins to flatter the three as brilliant who blush and Genba says he has been won over by the three and will work for them.

Ittasha is confused, wondering why a Ranger would want to work for them, with Genba saying that since they are going to inevitably rule the Earth anyways, he will need steady employment to get the money he wants and it would be best to work for them to achieve that goal. Decotrade is convinced and accepts his help, asking what tasks they should give him exactly as a job.

Despite being in their weakened state, the team looks for Genba around the city only to see him deliver special ramen with egg and large chicken cutlets to Decotrade, who is impressed with Genba’s skills in procurement. Ittasha has received a new sundress and a hat that she wears with Genba flattering about her appearance and giving her a mirror to admire herself with. Yeiyei is given a comfy cushion to rest on and his parts are lubricated by Genba with a special premium oil. Decotrade ask Genba to find a karaoke machine so that they can sing. Ittasha uses Boonboom Killer Robo’s speakers to play the weird Ondo song again which causes the other Boonboomgers agony as Genba fans a dancing Ittasha to keep her cool. Mira is initally upset, as she sees this betrayal with Genba wiping the sweat off of Decotrade’s brow, only to suddenly figure out that something else is going on.

Genba gives the Trio plastic masks of Bun Red, Pink and Blue and says that from now on they will be Boonboomgers. The trio try it out and get into a roll call which hypes them up, only for that to backfire as the sonic waves of Boonboom Killer affect them too and make them weak. Decotrade gets angry wondering what Genba was really doing, to which he said he actually hates them and was just buttering them up to get them in a good mood and get cranked up to have their weapon turn against them, as they previously explained to the BoonBoomgers during the first time they are hit by the Ondo song effects. In short, Genba was manipulating them the whole time and no matter how down he feels, he will always be there to lift up the spirits of his friends. Safari hears this from the garage and has decided to trust Genba, heading out by itself to go help the Boonboomgers, exiting Highway Space and using its claw to tear apart Boonboom Killer’s speakers.

Boonboom Safari Profile

With the speakers gone, the song’s effects end and the team can transform again. Ishiro speculates that Safari came because like a wild animal, Genba laid in wait to take down his enemies and showed cunning, earning Safari’s respect. Taiya congratulates Genba, giving him the mini Boonboom Car of Safari. Genba was impressed that Mira figured out what he was planning, with her simply saying that it is because they are becoming more in sync as a team.

The Trio recover enough to fight and the team changes into the Boonboomgers, which shocks the Trio and they decide to board Boonboom Killer to take on their adversaries, but end up backwards upon entering, turning around and fastening their seatbelts before powering on their Robo. Bun Bun has recovered and races to the battlefield, combining to form Boonboomger Robo. The Trio try to take them out with their Robo’s head mounted machine gun, but Bun Bun skates effortlessly past the gunfire, only to then get pummeled by Decotrade’s aggressive street brawler style combat while he controls Killer. Taiya tries to do a spin kick but Decotrade counters with his own and the feet of both Robots collide, but Bun Bun hurts his foot because Killer has more power than him. The trio say that they got the best illegal modifications to max out Killer’s power. Genba says in that case now would be a good time to try out Safari, transforming it into a pair of claw gauntlets in Attack Mode to form Boonboomger Robo Safari Custom.

Bun Bun uses the gauntlets to block Killer’s punches and he feels faster and wilder in this form, rapidly striking Killer with claw slashes, with the Trio unable to keep up and being tossed around from the hits and unable to maintain control over Killer to counterattack. Genba activates the finishing blow, Bakuage Claw: Boonboom Finish to destroy Killer, with the Trio blasting off from the explosion.

Back at the garage, Mira praises Safari for how amazing it is and hopes to befriend Marine. Jyo is still in a competitive mood and says he will befriend Marine first but Mira argues that she will, but Bun Bun calms everyone down with a special treat: his signature curry with fried meat and vegetables. The team doesn’t know what to think about it, aside from Ishiro who has acid reflux just looking at it and Mira tries to get out of eating it by saying she really needs to get back to work. Genba wholeheartedly accepts Bun Bun’s dish and eats it, saying it is absolutely delicious, with an excited Bun Bun saying he will make more for everyone but the rest of the team tries to make excuses why they can’t eat it. Taiya asks Genba if he’s okay and if the food is really good, but he just smiles and enjoys it as Safari watches and happily honks its horn.
