This Mamoswine is an Ice/Ground-type Pokémon owned by Dawn. He was the fifth Pokémon she captured, and her sixth Pokémon overall.
Biography[]
Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl[]
Dawn caught Mamoswine as a Swinub in his first appearance in DP084: Hungry for the Good Life!. The Swinub was gluttonous, always trying to find food around Mr. Backlot's home, but was friendly to Dawn. Following his debut, Dawn's Swinub would appear in nineteen other episodes before evolving into a Piloswine.
DP104: Sleepless in Pre-Battle! is the last episode to feature Dawn's Swinub, as well as the episode where he evolves into a Piloswine, which occurs during a battle against Team Rocket.
Two episodes later, in DP106: A Breed Stampede!, Dawn's Piloswine plays a major role. He showed his more aggressive side during the episode, since he disobeyed Dawn and tried to attack Dawn and her other Pokémon. He evolved into a Mamoswine later into the episode, while being attacked by Team Rocket, so this was the last episode to feature Dawn's Mamoswine in the form of a Piloswine.
Dawn's Mamoswine continued to disobey Dawn after evolving. He additionally showed initial disinterest at Dawn's performances in Pokémon Contests, such as during the episode DP114: Another One Gabites the Dust!. Mamoswine would go back to obeying Dawn as of DP119: Trials and Adulations!. In the episode, Dawn's Mamoswine was attacked by a wild Aggron, so Dawn healed her Mamoswine, who had begun to obey her ever since, including her instruction to defeat the Aggron. In DP123: Old Rivals, New Tricks!, Dawn's Mamoswine similarly expressed disinterest at the Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament while the event took place, even though he had trained Dawn's Ambipom for the event. Dawn's Mamoswine slept through part of the event, but showed interest when Dawn's Ambipom, whom he had trained earlier on, competed against Kenny's Prinplup.
Dawn's Mamoswine also has a prominent role in DP134: Promoting Healthy Tangrowth!. There is a scene where Mamoswine used Ice Shard, aiming to the sky, but was hit by his own attack, which broke into pieces and fell on his nose. When Dawn's Piplup laughed in response, Dawn's Mamoswine tried to defeat Piplup, but he hits a tree bark, bouncing back the Mamoswine and causing the Ice Shard to hit his forehead. Both Dawn's Piplup and Ash's Pikachu laughed at Dawn's Mamoswine together and Mamoswine angrily chased both of them. Dawn reprimanded her Mamoswine, telling him that she had enough of him chasing her Piplup and Ash's Pikachu. Mamoswine ran off, feeling upset, causing Dawn to worry and search for her Mamoswine, telling him to return. Ash told them to not laugh at Mamoswine. Dawn's Mamoswine was found in a forest, where a wild Tangrowth had defeated him.
In DP146: Dressed for Jess Success!, Dawn used her Mamoswine in a contest. This would culminate in a disaster when Dawn's Mamoswine lost his temper while battling James' Carnivine and caused a stampede.
Dawn's Mamoswine also played a role in DP155: Double-Time Battle Training!. He was neither successful at partnering with Dawn's Piplup nor her Pachirisu, but Dawn's Mamoswine managed to do well with Dawn's Cyndaquil. Despite this, the duo would lose a practice session against Zoey, who had her Kirlia use Psychic to control the Magical Leaf move of her Leafeon that defeated both Dawn's Mamoswine and her Cyndaquil.
Pokémon the Series: Black & White[]
Dawn's Mamoswine and her other Pokémon appear in BW088: Piplup, Pansage and a Meeting of the Times! and had a reunion with Ash by interacting with his Pokémon, as well as both Iris's and Cilan's Pokémon, too. Mamoswine detected Meloetta's presence and sniffed around for it.
In BW090: The Mystery of the Missing Cubchoo!, Mamoswine had a practice battle against Ash's Pignite, though both ended in a draw.
In BW093: Battling Authority Once Again!, Dawn's Mamoswine battled Iris' Dragonite during the second round of the Pokémon World Junior Cup. Mamoswine barraged Dragonite with an Ice Shard attack while the Dragonite had been disobedient to Iris. Mamoswine is revealed to have learned Ice Fang and had begun to freeze Dragonite, though the success was short-live when Dragonite used Dragon Rush on Dawn's Mamoswine, defeating Dawn's Mamoswine.
