Nickelodeon Kart Racers is a 2018 racing game for the Nintendo Switch based around Nickelodeon franchises. It was developed by Bamtang Games and published by GameMill Entertainment in the North American release and Maximum Games in the European release. It was the first new Nicktoons video game to be released in over seven years (the longest time gap for the series), with the last one being Nicktoons MLB in fall 2011. The game features 12 characters and 24 courses across four Nickelodeon franchises.

Two sequels, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix and Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway, were released in 2020 and 2022, respectively. All three games were later re-released together in the Nickelodeon Kart Racers Collection box set in 2023.

Reception[]

Nickelodeon Kart Racers received "generally unfavorable" reviews on all platforms according to review aggregator Metacritic.

Nintendo Life gave the game a 3/10, criticizing it for the roster size which only consists of two to four characters from four different shows while lacking characters from other popular Nickelodeon shows such as The Fairly OddParents, Invader Zim, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and The Loud House.

Trivia[]

  • This was the last SpongeBob-related video game to be released during SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg's lifetime.
  • It was thought that characters from twelve different Nicktoons were to be in the game, but the press release was later corrected by Bamtang to say it was only going to have twelve characters.
  • PAW Patrol: On a Roll, another Nickelodeon-related game, was released on the exact same day as this game's North American and Australian releases.
