Mushroom Kingdom II is a stage in the Super Smash Bros. series that debuted in Super Smash Bros. Melee, based on Subcon from Super Mario Bros. 2. The stage is unlocked by obtaining a Birdo trophy. It returned in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Stage Features[]
This stage is has two walk-off on each side of the screen with a lowered central platform. The log in the middle stays there permanently. The two pits get falling logs coming over the waterfall every so often.
Less often, Birdo comes from the side and fires an egg or three. These eggs can be caught aerially, and if thrown at an opponent, do massive damage and knockback - up to 28%. The eggs can be broken after being thrown (attacking the eggs simply knocks them off) and sometimes have items in them. Birdo can be attacked and then flee with enough damage. The side she comes on is random. Pidgit also flies around the middle of the stage and his carpet is a platform.
Music[]
Melee[]
- Mushroom Kingdom II
- Dr. Mario
Usage[]
Luigi is fought on this stage when unlocked regardless of if the stage has been unlocked.
In All-Star Mode, if Dr. Mario is the main foe, this will be the stage.
Event 22: Super Mario 128 and Event 38: Super Mario Bros. 2 also occur on this stage.
Origin[]
The art style of this stage is very similar to the All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 2. The stage seems to be a take on Super Mario Bros. 2 World 1-1 as a stage.
Trivia[]
- The music is normally the Overworld theme of Super Mario Bros. 2, but it changes to the Boss theme when less than 20 seconds remain or in a Sudden Death match. If played on Stock Mode without a timer or in an endless match, only the Overworld theme will play unless playing on Super Sudden Death from Special Melee which will play the boss theme like in Sudden Death.
- Mushroom Kingdom II is the only stage in Melee that shares alternate music, Dr. Mario, with another stage: Mushroom Kingdom.
