Jungle Japes is the first level in Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64. It can be considered a training stage, as Donkey learns many of the basics in this stage including transforming into Rambi and collecting bananas. Diddy joins Donkey once he manages to rescue him from the mountain. Donkey can enter the stage with just one Golden Banana, which is found near the entrance.
This area has many trees that may be climbed in this area and has many collectibles found. There are many cliffs and a gloomy area filled with lightbulbs and Gnawties located inside of it. One of the caves lead to a heavy storm area filled with switches revealing bananas. This stage has Army Dillo as a boss.
