“ | It's pretty remarkable, really. Nature's got her own clean up crew. Flies, larvae, maggots, beetles. And there's the big guys, of course. Rats, squirrels, crows, buzzards. I learned a long time ago never to kill anybody above five thousand feet. It's cold up there, the evidence tends to linger. They'll be along soon. They like the scent of blood. | „ |
~ Perotta taunting James Baker. |
Vincent "Vinny" Perotta is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Natural Born Killer." He is a psychopathic assassin who works for the Maryland mafia boss Michael Russo.
He was portrayed by Patrick Kilpatrick.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- Years before the events of the episode, when he was younger, he attempted to kill a biker with a Molotov cocktail and even intended to kill a teenage boy for looking at him "funny." During this time he also acquired charges of robbery, burglary and aggravated assault. It is also implied that, as a teenager, he killed his abusive father, Franklin, in a staged hunting accident.
- In the present, he is hired by Michael Russo to kill Freddy Condore. However, Vinny takes it a step further by torturing Condore in his home and dismembering him before proceeding to torture and disembowel his uncle, as well as slitting the throat of his aunt.
- Out of a lingering suspicion, he tortures undercover FBI agent James Baker in his own home and proceeded to leave him to have his innards eaten by rats.
- He fought and tried to strangle BAU Agent Aaron Hotchner as the FBI closed in on him.
- Following his capture, the BAU discover several tapes and pictures depicting his grisly crimes, many of his victims being innocent civilians who had their insides eaten by rats or other causes.
- The eventual number of victims he was shown to have killed was at least 100 people.
- Despite the absurdly high heinous standards for the franchise, Vincent manages to stand out due to his high kill count, as well as his methods of torture and being one of the few snuff filmers in the franchise.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- As deduced by Hotchner, Vincent genuinely cared for his mother despite her not protecting him from his abusive father, this explains why he killed his father and why he killed Freddy Condore’s aunt in a quick and painless manner.
- From his care of his mother, he has tragic backstory of being abused by his father and gaining psychopathic qualities.
- Despite his cold and calculating nature, he does seem slightly affable to Aaron Hotchner as he shows no anger to him in his interrogation and gives him a look of understanding at the end of the episode.
