CiJ Day 3- Wrap it Up

Hello Again,

I'm Still playing catch up with the current week long Christmas in July Event over at Bugaboo Stamps Blog Catch the Bug today brings me to the Wrap it Up challenge to make a gift tag, wrap, gift bag etc. I have made a wine bottle tag featuring Ruby Xmas Drink which hasn't yet been added to Jodie's new store. I made a template for making Wine Bottle tags out of a cereal box and wrote all the measurements on it to save time, but then had a very large mistake which actually caused me to toss the whole thing out before I cut Ruby out and used her for the one you see below.... lets just say that I know what crushing bling in my Cuttlebug sounds like and what it does to the card and paper....

Here is my wine bottle tag:-

What I used:-
Amethyst AC Card
Sugar and Spice 'Jewel' Paper (Spotlight for those in Aus)
MFT Merry Christmas Die
MFT BB Penguins in Paradise Cheers stamp
Bling from stash
White card stock
Faber Castell Pencils
Ruby Xmas Drink from Bugaboo Stamps
Scrap paper with snow flakes on it
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Circle Dies

Happy Mothers' Day

Hello again,

Well yesterday was Mothers’ Day here in Australia and despite my best intentions to have made Mum a card earlier than the day before, I was busy on Saturday creating a special card, I made a Joy Fold card for her this year it was much easier than anticipated to do too, it makes for a quite a heavy card though. I used a 15cm square card blank and cut down a second smaller square card blank to 11.6cm, cutting the front of the larger card in half and placing the second card with the fold opposite the larger and main cards fold, I had only one problem with the card, I allowed one of the tags and one part of the leaves to over hang the fold, meaning that once opened these became bent :-(, never mind the card was still appreciated by Mum.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

Faber-Castell pencils
15cm square card blank
12cm square card blank (minus just 4mm down two sides)
Core’dinations cardstock ‘Pearl’
Lili of the Valley Bonnets and Bowties paper pad
Elizabeth Crafts Curvy leaves die
Lifestyle Crafts nesting circle dies
Ribbon, lace and bling from my stash
Tiny paper flowers from Korean Paper Museum
Ranger Liquid Pearls ‘Silver Pearl’
Versa Colour ‘Orchid’ ink pad
Clear Embossing powder
Kaisercraft Mini clear stamp set ‘Occasions’ inside card

Hedgehogs

Hello again,

As I mentioned before I printed off an few images onto one sheet for upcoming birthdays, it was our neighbours birthday over the weekend and her and her son headed down the coast for a couple of days giving me some extra time to finish off her card  so rather than being a fairly simple one I went all out and made some rolled roses to embellish her card… 😊 and just as they were ready to leave we arrived home from the shops and her teenage son brought me in a tray of card board scraps quite possibly from their love of heading out to garage sales, one of the scraps worked perfectly with the colour scheme of the semi completed card and I couldn’t help myself I used it for the roses, so some of what she gave me is heading back into her home.
If I didn’t want the scrap card stock she said to dump it into her recycling bin (What!!!) as even if I can’t use it I try to pass it along to someone who will, I have shared it out some for me in colours I need or use lots of,  some has made its way to one of the friendly bank tellers, who will also pass along any she’s not interested in and the remainder will be headed to a card making lady who after retiring returned to the nursing home to teach card-making to the residents, they have loved the other bits and pieces I have passed along and will undoubtedly get some enjoyment from this lot. (box is a bit over 30cm square)

Here is my card:-

Diane Carubia Blooming lovely Hedgehogs digi stamp
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
My Memories cardstock

Teen Christmas

Hello again,

I’m back with another Christmas card this one is off to my neighbour’s eldest son, to prevent any arguments over the cards as I made my second double ‘z’ fold card having made this one for his brother earlier this year, the card ended up being more plain than I had planned on account of me making multiple mistakes when cutting the gap at the back of the card to hold some cash. I thought after the first mistake (I cut a piece of paper with a pattern going across the page upright) I’d just trace and cut the hole onto the next piece, only this time I did it in mirror image ;-(( to rescue the paper I’d wrecked I picked a second and third piece from the same paper pad and used the first paper on the ‘z’ portion of the card.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 14cm Square card blank
Pale green cardstock
My Mind’s Eye Mistletoe Magic 6” pad (including the paper I cut the wrong way)
Kaisercraft nesting star die
Lifestyle crafts nesting circle die
Poppystamps Clarissa ornament
Poppystamps Avondale ornament
Sentiment Die from Australian Papercraft Essentials 45
Star paperclip
Silver and white card scraps
Silver and red bling
Bella Droplets

I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed a change in the way Blogger/google+ are dealing with comments, they used to send them to email address and have notifications when you sign in, now nothing is coming through.... I've not changed any settings although I have contemplated changing to the older style comment box... any one got any thoughts or ideas? Also I've been told I am a no reply blogger and followed a tutorial to change this but maybe since my blog was started more recently the settings that require changing are not there...

Flowers and Whales

Hello again,

I have been busy off-line and made several cards during the last week or so including two cards for a friend, not getting an overly complex request, anything at all... I made two cards very similar using some tissue paper and my scalloped circle dies... the more you play with it the more fluffy the flowers become... better posted minus an envelope so the flowers don't get squashed

As a bonus I made these cards entirely off the card blank and even the back of the brad is hidden... but I wished I had added some veins to the leaves...

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-
White and cream card blanks (10.5 x 14.8cm)
Silver and gold paper scraps
First Edition Rose Garden
1 sheet of pink and yellow tissue paper
Scraps of green cardstock
Papercraft Inspirations leaf pattern
Butterfly Brads
Paper lace
Lace
Adhesive Pearls
Buttons (some thread)
Cocoa Colorbox inkpad
Pink inkpad
Stamps from magazine gifts
Poppycrafts nesting label die
MFT Flourish die
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, PVA glue

A slice of Summer

Hello again,

Today I am sharing a card made for my niece’s birthday later this month, it is already on its way in a parcel full of Lego as requested and not 'girls' Lego either! She spent a lot of time playing with her Dad’s old Lego when she last visited us in NSW and took it all home with her, she told us she didn’t have any and she really really liked it!

Some other things she really really likes is pineapples and watermelons so much so that at her Mum’s she has all pineapple “stuff” and at her Dad’s when they decorated her new bedroom she got all watermelon “stuff like pillows, a mat and even a doona cover!”

That made things easy to decide she got Lego and her birthday card from my parents was to be a watermelon card, I made my card earlier this year using one of From the Heart Stamps Stamp of the Month images, Faith (From the Heart Stamps owner and designer) is very unwell at the moment and is having treatment for a brain tumour, Please keep Faith in your thoughts and Prayers.

This is probably the easiest card I've made in a long time, four circle dies, adhesive tape and sheets, a flag and a few punched hearts cut in two.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank
Dark green cardstock
Cabbage AC cardstock
Tomato AC cardstock
White cardstock
Black scrap card
Diamond Glaze on the Pips
Heart punch
Wooden ladybug (ladybird on the pack)
MFT Pierced Fishtail flags
MFT Penguins in Paradise stamp
Nesting circle dies Lifestyle crafts
Memento Tuxedo Black inkpad
Black fine line pen
Adhesives:- Diamond glaze and double-sided tape

Christmas in July day 6 Photo Inspiration

Hello again,

Today the lovely ladies of Catch the Bug challenge have an inspiration photo for us which you can see below, being an Aussie, seeing Santa at beach locations is reasonably common during the festive season (on TV for me), sometimes Santa even arrives via boat at coastal locations, much to the delight of the young, young at heart and visitors from abroad.

I took my inspiration from the beach location, the inviting water and the fun you can have at the beach;

I have used another of Jodie’s Bugaboo images Trop Santa Surfing which you can find here in store. This month Jodie is celebrating Christmas in July with a lovely gift for us all 50% off the whole store, a great time to collect some more of her fabulous work…

I used up some paper scraps from a discount store brand water colour printed paper pad and a scrap of Sunflower cardstock to create a beachy scene, adding Stickles to the torn edge of the paper as the bubbles that form on the sand as the waves comes in. Santa was coloured with Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils and adhered with some foam tape.

I have borrowed an old sketch I found online with a search for sketches it came from, From the Heart Stamps. I wish I had used a larger rectangle of embossing so that it can be seen more easily. I finished off the card with a sentiment from Lili of the Valley and a flower that  is meant to be a frangipani... this card will be headed to one of the relatives in either England or Scotland.

Here is my card:-

(My photo does not do the colours much justice, all much more vivid in real life....)

What I used:-
5” x 7” card blank
Faber-Castell and Derwent pencils
Amy Tangerine design papers
Merci water colour mini stack (Big W Australia)
Dark blue & crimson cardstock
Scrap white & sunflower cardstock
Tickled Pink & Sprinkled Sugar Stickles
Glitzee Blue glitter glue
Buttercup liquid Pearl
Embossing folder Darice Holly Vines
Lifestyle Crafts Nesting circle dies
Memory box fancy blossoms
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
White gel ink pen
Fiskars Corner Rounder punch
Adhesives:- double-sided and foam tape
