Clingwrap Christmas Trees

 Hello again,

I am joining in with the ladies at Group of Seven Cardmakers, this months challenge is Smooshing with Clingwrap. I have tried just about every type of paper or card I have, I discovered some photo paper pre cut 4x6" from my old printer ink box, which worked exceptionally well with this technique. I also waited for a cool change, being the middle of our Summer. I used Dylusions Spray inks in Funky Fuschia and Crushed Grape, adding a few sprays of plain water to the sheet of store brand  cling wrap then smooshing it onto the photo paper, it took a couple of days to completely dry, that cool change lasted several days including one when we turned on the heater....

I have used this one 4x6" (10x15cm) photo paper to make two Christmas cards, Marianne Design Craftable tree dies, unknown star die cut from silver paper. MFT Sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink.

LPoCF #220 Hetty Clare Christmas Penguins

 Hello again,

Well, we are in the midst of a severe heatwave here in my part of Australia, as we live in a cool climate air conditioning is not usual for any homes! Sydney siders asked us to put the air-con on and were very surprised that we don't have it.

Today brings us to another all new Anything goes Challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are being sponsored by Hetty Clare who kindly allowed us to chose two images for the design team. I chose Christmas Penguins, I am using up another of my scrappy paper strips, all stuck onto snippet of white card and trimmed, I have an envelope on the back of the paper pads to store the snippets from other projects that are too nice to throw away.

Twin Trees

 Hello again,

Well, I am back with a pair of Christmas cards, to join in with some of the current challenges, getting ready for Christmas.

I followed the instructions with the Group of Seven Cardmakers ladies to make this pair of cards, heat embossing the background using Kaisercraft 'script' stamp (5cmx13cm) four times for each card, I did this on a cooler night as the days before have been more like Summer, placed the Christmas tree stencil from a magazine over, inked with Mowed Lawn, Candied Apple and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink. Sentiment stamped onto scraps of red card stock and heat embossed in white powder.

What I used:
Kaisercraft 'Script' clear stamp
Christmas Tree Stencil
Stitched rectangle die
MFT Christmas Stamps (sentiment)
2 white 12.6x17.8cm card blank (5x7")
Clear and White Embossing powders
Distress Oxide Inks, Candied Apple, Fossilized Amber, Mowed Lawn,
Red cardstock
Adhesives:- Double sided tape

LPoCF #208 Dr. Digi

 Hello again,

It is almost time for the Winter Solstice here in Australia, the wind is freezing and the Snowy Mountains are expecting at least 1m (3feet) of snow over the next few days. Our largest town has a large Winter parade on the weekend closest to the solstice and in the past the main street is closed to traffic and 40,000 people fill the street.

This fortnight brings us to another all-new challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, our sponsor Dr. Digi kindly gave the design team our choice of 5 images to work with. I chose to use another Christmas image called Elliot and Elvis, my card is also a reminder of measure twice cut once, or perhaps to save even the smallest scraps....

Rockin' Robins

 Hello again,

Well, we are still enjoying a wet summer here in Aus, our dams are full to over flowing. Having allergy to environmental moulds is no fun during Covid, my doctor tells me that so long as I don't have any other symptoms of Covid I am safe to go about my business.

During the most recent wet spell I got my Christmas gifts out and made six cards with paper pieced robins, all the scraps came from my scrap bags and boxes, I had intended to stamp the included sentiment in the top corner but for some reason the embossing powder did not stick, so covered up my mistake with little signs.

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-

10x21cm card blanks
white card stock
Woodware stamp Robin Stack clear stamp
Brown, red, orange, and green paper scraps
Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad
Clear embossing ink
Gold embossing powder
Scraps of kraft paper, narrow strips design papers
white loose glitter
Double sided tape, Helmars tacky craft glue
single hole punch (conveniently fit the size of the berries)

Christmas gift holders

 Hello again,

Well I'm not sure about you but Christmas seems to have come around very quickly now it is all over for another year. We had summery Christmas and boxing days here in Australia 26C for Christmas day and 24C yesterday, today the weather has turned back to winter and it is only 10C and wet and drizzly outside. I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and got to spend time with those that you love, we are heading back into restrictions from today with rising case numbers and over 400 told they were negative when they were actually positive for covid-Omicron.

I am sharing the last two Christmas cards I made, these were for Mum who I gave some digital books to, nothing to wrap so I came up with gift card holders and printed the book covers and put them inside adding numbers to ones that came from a series, nothing drastically exciting I'm sure these have been seen around online in varying degrees over the years, apologies for the black looking buttons on the Santa suit, they are gold mirri card and are hard to photograph.

Santa and elf card holders:

What I used:-

9.4cm scrap pieces of 12" cardstock red and green scored at 2" and 7"
White, silver, gold, patterned card, red and black cardstock scraps
Scalloped rectangle, oval and border dies
circle and square punches
belt buckle die
Hole punch to add ribbon ties to the back

Here is one more Christmas card:-

Our Christmas cards for overseas had to be posted last week for guaranteed delivery and due to postage delays and only alternate day delivery the Aussie cards will be sent this week, all written and ready to go!

What I used:-

Hexagon Mad

 Hello again,

We are currently having a warm winters day and the washing is getting a good blow through, before an expected cool change later this week. I have been busy during our current lockdown using up a couple of ancient paper pads, one a Christmas pad from Doodlebug Designs called 'North Pole' which has maybe a whole 6" square left to use up, if you join all the little bits together and it is definitely not going back in the box for use again next year. I have used a magazine subscription stamp set 'Pretty Patchwork' to make several cards one is a birthday card the others Christmas.

Here are my cards:-

This birthday card is on the way to a quilt making friend, she is currently under her first lockdown after a person infected with covid-19 went into her regional area, so hopefully this brings a smile for her birthday over the weekend....

As you can see I stamped and cut out many hexagons and made them into tree shapes on the card fronts adding a bow (store bought) to the top of the tree and the sentiment at the bottom, I was a little high on the first one the next two worked out well...

My last card features a MFT stamp called Pure Innocents Elf Girl along with some larger hexagons

What I used:-
4x 12.6x17.8cm card blank
1x 10.5x14.8cm card blank
doodlebug design inc paper pad 'north pole' (double-sided)
My Mind's Eye 'Happy Day' paper pad (double sided)
Pretty Patchwork stamp set (magazine cover)
Lace and seam binding

Couple of Cards

 Hello again,

I'm enjoying a couple of much cooler days after a week long heat wave 33C+, my poor budgies are all fluffed up trying to keep warm (14C) and have started moulting... while running back-up on my computer this morning I decided to make another Christmas card for my stash. This one is number 8 for the year...

This card is a total scrap/snippet job I stamped the dog onto a snippet of white card stock and heat embossed in black powder before scribbling with watercolour pencils on another scrap of card and painting them onto the image. I die cut the sentiment from a scrap of silver paper and on the photo the Christmas looks a little lost against the background, not so bad IRL. The holly and berries were cut from some more scraps from Doodlebug papers.. the green leaves are from a different paper pad there are flowers on the back....

MFT Deck the Howls stamp set
Doodlebug North Pole/Santa Express Papers
Scrap silver paper with Adhesive sheet on back
Spellbinders 'Christmas' sentiment die
MFT 'Wishes' sentiment die
MFT Stitched inner/outer rounded rectangle die
Cottage Cutz Holly and berries die
Wink of Stella on ornaments

I would like to enter this card in:

I have also made one birthday card using my distress oxide inks smooshing them on my gelli plate, spritzing with water, heat drying before moving on to the next colour. I then using the same colours to paint the heat embossed butterfly adding a tiny drop of water so the colours are brighter inside the stamped image.

edit... not sure how but forgot to add the watermark over my card...

Katzelkraft Daisy Butterfly
Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry, Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet and Fossilised Amber
Clear embossing ink
Whispers Opaque and black Embossing powder
Pink, white, silver card
MFT Essential Sentiments stamp
MFT Pierced fishtail flag die
Waffleflower C7 layered stitched dies

Christmas Leftovers

 Hello again,

Summer is in full force here in NSW again, I've finally had to swap pants for shorts, we have had temperatures down as low as 9C here up until now (31C), less summer more winter. Glad that there are only 4 fires currently burning in NSW, not like this time last year with the number of Bushfires and how close they were to our home.

I've been trying to use up the ends of a 6" paper pad currently sitting on my desk, it has just one sheet that is whole, the rest are bits and pieces of varying sizes, I have used up some of the strips to cover two pieces of pre-cut card to fit a C7 card blanks, I did the same with some bits from a second Christmas paper pad that also had many bits where I'd die cut shapes from leaving narrow pieces to make two more Christmas cards for my stash for 2021....

Happy New Year!

Hello again,

Welcome to 2021, may this year be a Happy, safe and healthy year for all of you and your loved ones. I hope to be able to spend more time crafting and in blogland this year, although that may depend on the physio and how my body reacts to it and the travel involved getting there and back.

We have begun this year with new Covid rules here in NSW, we all must wear a face mask in any indoor places, shared cars, public transport etc. with a $200 fine for no compliance. I think today in the Sydney basin there were 3 cases of community transmission, related to a patient transport worker who transported a returning passenger from overseas. I don't think that I would have believed if someone told me that I would enter a bank wearing a mask and get served without the security screens being activated.

I hope you have all had a wonderful, if quiet Christmas and New Year. I have already made a start on this years Christmas cards, with some lovely new Australian papers and dies. These will be kept aside to head over to our English and Scottish relatives at the other end of this year. I have used up several scraps of various silver papers, I think I like the mirror card ones best. Birds featured- Pink Galah, White Cockatoo, Laughing Kookaburra and Currawong

I have also found and had the time to ink up the Clearly Besotted stamp and die combo I won in Di's Snippets Playground Christmas draw in 2019, it went missing when our ceiling leaked all over my craft cupboard and I only found it again in the last few weeks.... so my Christmas card count is off to a good start, 5 cards in one week...
