Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), or commonly known as Super Nintendo or Super NES, is a home video game console manufactured by Nintendo. The console is called the Super Famicom (スーパーファミコン, Sūpā famikon) in Japan. The console was mainly competed with the SEGA Mega Drive.

The console was released in Japan on November 21, 1990, in North American on August 23, 1991, in Europe on June 1992 and in Australia on July 3, 1992.

The first Mega Man game to be released for the console was Mega Man X, it was initially released in Japan on December 17, 1993. The final video game title released for the console was Rockman & Forte, only released in Japan on April 24, 1998.

The console was succeeded by Nintendo 64 in 1996, later the console was discontinued in United States and Japan on 1999 and 2003, respectively.
