History
The Venom symbiote is a sentient extraterrestrial symbiotic entity initially thought to be made from living ink. It bonded with Spider-Man but was rejected and run over by a truck. It later bonded to Eddie Brock, a coworker of Peter's at the Daily Bugle, and would try to influence him to satiate its ravenous hunger for brains. Due to Eddie's incompetence, it was unable to get him to cause any real harm, instead winding up in comedic situations. Capable of manifesting a head and arms separate from Eddie's, it would engage them in conversations around the Daily Bugle's water cooler.[1]
Over the years, the Venom symbiote had numerous children and grandchildren, ultimately losing track of how many progeny it had given rise to. With unwitting help from Spider-Man, the Venom symbiote eventually overcame its addiction to brains - instead developing an appetite for cheeseburgers. While hosting a family reunion for its family, the Venom symbiote lamented Eddie having invited Spider-Man - who frequently offered backhanded complements.[2]
